We are just a few days away from Christmas. As we celebrate Christmas, the feast of the birth of Jesus Christ, it is good to reflect on what this feast should mean to children all over the world. Even though it is a feast for the whole world, many people see it more as a feast for children than for adults; and Jesus was an exemplary child. He wants every child to be like him.
The best way to celebrate this feast, therefore, is for our children to spend their time learning to be like him. Many of our children are far from being like him. They are wayward in their behavior, reckless, irresponsible, disobedient, and lack focus. They give hypertension to their parents. Some render their parents half mad. Jesus’ life teaches that this is not the way. All children need to emulate his obedience, humility, prayerfulness, faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. A child who does this will not only increase his or her chances of living a successful life, but will also be a blessing to his or her parents, family, community, country and the world.
