On Thursday, 29th August 2013, a priest was laid to rest in the Archdiocese of Bamenda in the person of Monsignor James Nsokika, a very seasoned Diocesan priest. Those who knew him testify that he was a great priest; devoted to his call. He was among the first Cameroonians to answer God’s call to serve in his vineyard as a Diocesan Priest. For thirty-seven years, this man was a devoted servant of the Lord. His prestigious mission ended on the 11th August,2013 in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic General Hospital Shisong in Kumbo, Bui Division, North-West Region of Cameroon. There was a heavy turn out of persons at the St. Joseph’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Bamenda where his mortal remains were laid to rest on Thursday 29th August 2013. The Chief celebrant at the funeral Mass was the Chief Shepherd of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, His Grace Cornelius Fontem Esua, who was profuse in his praise of the departed priest. We thank God for the life of Monsignor James. Because he answered God’s call many people received the Sacrament of Baptism; many marriages were celebrated, many sick were anointed, and many dead were buried. As he is gone, we can only pray for him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
