Inspiration for your week

How wonderful it can be to start your week with an inspiring message that can keep you inspired throughout the week!

Look at these words by Jacob Riis.  He wrote them to encourage people never to give up:

“When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter, hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it.

Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it – but all that had gone before.”

Many people have bought this philosophy and it has helped them to shine in life.

A.L Williams buys this fully in his book, “All You Can Do is All You Can Do”. He says “If you have the courage and strength to hang on and refuse to give up, you dramatically increase your chances of winning.”

I would like you and I to face this week bearing in mind that:

  • life is tough
  • we have to be tough to make it;
  • luckily, we have in us what it takes to be tough;
  • This means we are born to succeed;
  • Therefore, we have no excuse to fail.

To strengthen his earlier point,  A.L. Williams says, “When you feel like giving up, make a promise to yourself to hang on one more week, one more month, and when that time’s up, do it again.”

This is great; and I like the way he closes the chapter “Never Give Up”, in his book already cited:

“No matter how tough it gets, just keep calling the plays.  Somebody is going to score sooner or later, and it might as well be you.”

May the Lord grant you the grace throughout this week to bring out the best in you so that you may contribute in an outstanding way to light up the world!
