Two cures for fear

Fear paralyzes many people in the world today, doesn’t it?

It will be unfortunate if you allow it to paralyze you because it is an impediment to success.

Do not let it grip you.

Many people, indeed, allow it to grip them. Thus,, they go to bed in fear of what may happen to them in the night; get up in fear of what may happen to them during the day; and as they go about their day they are in fear.

They fear to do the simple things that life demands that they do; not to talk of taking risks which are necessary for success. They fear other people. They fear to speak out and make their voices heard. They fear what others may say or do to them. The list can continue.

We can say our present world is a fear-filled world. This explains why many people do not exploit the wonderful talents God has filled them with.

As I said already, if you allow fear to grip you, it will paralyze you; and reduce your ability to achieve what you are supposed to achieve.

It thus becomes imperative that you crush fear before it crushes you.

A good question is: how does one go about this?

There are two things.

Someone has said “Do what you fear and the fear of death is certain.”  This is an excellent cure for fear.

Each time you are afraid to do something, do it. Once you have done it, you have killed fear. If you want to do the next thing and fear still grips you, still do it.

Why not try this now? What are you afraid of? Go out and face it.

Another cure is trust in God; faith in God; total surrender to God. If you have faith in God, and surrender your life to him, or totally trust him, there will be no fear in you. As it is said, when faith comes in through the door, fear escapes through the window.

You have reason to trust in Him.  Psalm 121 gives full assurance of God’s protective presence in your life: “He will not let you fall.  He is always awake.  He never dozes or sleeps. He will guard you. He is by your side to protect you…’

As if this were not enough, the Psalmist continues:

‘The Lord will protect you from all danger. He will keep you safe. He will protect you as you come and go now and for ever.”

Psalm 46 is also very inspiring in this regard: “God is our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble, so we will not be afraid, even if the earth is shaken and mountains fall into the ocean depths, even if the seas roar and rage, and the hills are shaken by violence.”

With this, who can say there is any reason to fear?

You have to crush fear hands down if you want to make your impact felt in this world.  Use the two strategies given you here to master fear and shine.
