Keep your speed in check

Have you realized that when the road is straight and smooth many accidents occur on it? In my country, when certain roads were not tarred, the rate of accidents on them was low.  When they were tarred many accidents started occurring on them.

The reason for this is simple.

When a road is rough, drivers are more careful when they drive on it.  When it is smooth, they tend to drive roughly; and rough driving leads to accidents.

Life is not different.

When the going is rough, many people are hard-working.  They struggle; they are careful.  When it is smooth, they tend to be careless or reckless.

I have seen many children from well-to-do homes ending up as woeful failures while many children from wretched homes have ended at the summit.

If on the other hand, you have a poor background, know that nothing is lost. You can do as well as, if not better than, any child who comes from a great home. All you need to do is to work a little harder; a little wiser; a little longer; and go a little more carefully.

The long and short of it: if fortune smiles at you and you have a good car on a good road, check your speed. In other words, if things are working out well for you in life, check how you are living. Check how you do things. Be prudent.

The road that is smooth may be more dangerous than the one that is rough.

  1. Thanks for the follow on SeeyouIn5. This was a great post and very true words indeed. When you think you are doing well you need to keep moving forward. There is a quote I have in front of me which fits. ‘Work like there is someone working twenty four hours a day to take it all away from you’ – Mark Cuban.
