The love of my life

Am I not lucky?
Am I not very lucky?
It is twenty-five years
Since we became husband and wife;
Yet, our love is still strong;
As if it started only yesterday;
If I were to start afresh;
It would be no one else but you.
Truly, you are
The love of my life.

  1. Congratulations on 25 years. I was married 34 years when my husband passed away. I want to find someone new as I am only 55 and my husband, prior to his passing, told me I should. I think when you have a really good marriage you miss the relationship. I was recently talking with a friend and we agreed. Couples who have really good marriages tend to remarry when widowed; people with so-so to poor marriage do not. When you’ve had something great, you don’t want to live without it.

    • I know what you are talking about. We have a meeting of couples and meet once a month and journey together. It is a beautiful experience and once you are widowed you do not come. It can be very hard. Best wishes as you find a new ‘best’ friend to journey with.

  2. I am happy for you and I am happy for us. You can be a more effective Success Inspirer when you are fortunate enough to have a wonderful spouse/mate/soulmate.

    • Thank you very much. This actually fits my situation but I did not have it in mind when I wrote the poem until a sweet blogger congratulated me did it dawn on me that it was exactly my situation. My greatest blessing in life God has given me is my spouse. It’s not about not .having differences. It’s about counting our blessings more than our low moments with each other.
