As the blazing sun is laid to rest,
And the twilight draws near,
The once warm air turns cold and still,
It’s a perfect time to light a bonfire
With friends to sit around
Sporting welcoming smiles.
Long drawn out shadows gently fade,
As dimming skies let stars appear
The birds gradually fall silent
And while the smoke churned up in spiral whiffs
As the wood burnt cinder crisp;
The night descends with a quiet hush.
An unmarked clock ticks somewhere.
That calms the nerves and soothes the soul,
Recharging it in the final vestiges of the day
In a moment of conflicting interests, your mind will realise,
We must see the darkness; in order to see the light.
