A Lonely Soul

By: Ranjeeta Nath Ghai

Within the vast expense
Of time and space,
Hearing the faint echoes of
The glories of yesteryears.
Sometimes haunted by fear,
My lonely soul is
Forever searching
Keeps endlessly drifting
Into the unknown waters of time.
In the never ending story called life
Waiting for a time that
Keeps eluding,
Threatening nevertheless to come
Unsure of future
Battling fair weather friends
Not knowing who to trust
Adrift in confusion; many decisions
I have now left pending for tomorrow.

Amidst the sea of lies,
Lust, greed and deceit;
I wait.
I wait for the tables will turn…
Anchored but still afloat, adrift upon
The mellow breeze that caresses the currents
Hope etched upon my soul
I wait for the destiny
To grant me your touch.
