Come Again?

They tell we women we're the origin
Of every sin committed here on Earth
We don't know what universe they live in --
That's just a testimony to our worth

Because if we remember it aright
The Biblical reality infer
It wasn't Eve from whom sin spread its blight
Its originator predated her

In form a giant wily serpent of
Who preyed on aggravated innocence --
Forbidden good and evil knowledge of
How could she have prepared any defence?

Nor can we seem to understand what way
Feminine evil o'er virtue prevail
For we have ne'er heard anyone to say
That snake was anything other than male

A poet is the strangest sort of soul
You in this life may e'er expect to meet
More broken even while more truly whole,
Innocently intending well, more sweet

Than any but a five year old should be
Unfit to meet a callused world's demand
Or to behave aught expediently
All grace in flight; an albatross on land

Do not the all too common error make
Do not fall into the too easy trap
Avoid the fatal egoic mistake
Imagining that poet be a sap

Powerful spirits classic and antique
Give voice when poets ope their mouths to speak
