Nigeria Celebrates 58th Independence Anniversary

President Buhari addressed the nation on this the 58th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria.  Talking about the financial discrepancy  issues of the  past, he said his administration is making progress in the fight against corruption as shady oil deals and the brazen theft of billions of Naira are no more. The government has been paying arrears due for the running of infrastructure, that due to its staff as in pension arrears.

The Vice President assured the congregation at the 58th Independence Anniversary Day Interdenominational  Church Service, at the National Christian Centre, Abuja yesterday.  Mr Yemi Osinbajo said, “This anniversary is an opportunity  to bless our nation.  This 58th year of Nigeria’s independence will mark a great new beginning of peace, prosperity, abundance.

UK Government  Announce Housing And Business Reforms

The government is banning the use of combustible cladding on all new residential buildings above 18 metres.  This also includes schools, care homes,  student accommodation and hospitals according to the Guardian.  This decision has come after a long consultation due to last year’s Grenfell Tower Fire tragedy.  The government has a $40 million programme to remove suspect cladding from all high-rise social housing and work with the private sector to take action too.
