Nobel Peace Prize Joint Winners Work As Sexual Violence Campaigners

The Nobel Peace Prize was jointly awarded to two campaigners, a doctor who helped thousands of women victims of sexual violence in Africa and a Yazidi Kurdish human rights campaigner who had been kidnapped, raped and trafficked by Islamic State fighters.  The Norwegians responsibly for organising the Nobel Peace Award gave the award because “for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and conflict.”

Dr Denis Mukwege for the majority of his working life has helped the women victims of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he has also regularly criticised the Democratic Republic of Congo and other governments for not doing enough.  The other winner is Nadia Murad was among 3,000 girls captured, raped and suffered other atrocities at the hands of the Islamic State fighters.  She escaped and wrote about her experiences and giving speeches about it.  The UN in 2016 named her the first Goodwill Ambassador for the Dignity of Survivors of Human Trafficking.

India’s PM N Modi Welcomes Vladimir Putin To New Delhi

India’s Prime Minister N. Modi welcomed Russian President V. Putin with a hug and also has signed a £3.8bn deal for an air defence system. This is despite the US threatening to impose sanctions on any country that trades with Russia’s military and intelligence services.  Their talks involve training of an Indian astronaut, agreements relating to railways and fertilisers.

A retired midwife who enjoyed a satisfying career after years of rejecting it as a career choice. After becoming a Mum for the second time, somehow I just could not resist the call to midwifery any longer. Being part a family's important event gave more insight into how women, me included, both manage and sometimes muddle through pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood. Wisdom shared and gleaned from stories as well as healthy lifestyle tips and healthy recipes will hopefully answer your need.
