The Autumn Budget And The Chancellor’s Tax Dilemma

The UK Finance organisation has a review of two newspapers and their take on the tax /finance of Britain.  Using a budget to raise tax is a way of raising revenue for the country, however Chancellor Phillip Hammond is reported to be facing a limited ability to raise taxes in the Autumn Budget because of a number of reasons.  These reasons are having a hostile political environment, lack of parliamentary majority and the fact that Mrs May focused to the end of austerity according to The Financial Times.  The Daily Telegraph points out the Chancellor is under pressure from Tory Euro-sceptic MPs because they are against Hammond’s plans to restrict pension tax break. Apart from this, the City is a huge contributor to the UK’s GDP, they are urging Mr Hammond to reconsider the banking levy as they fear it might affect the City’s competitiveness in the new relationship with the EU after Brexit.  The chief executive of UK Finance, Stephen also urged the Chancellor to reassess if the banking levy has fulfilled its purpose, he further asked about the way forward for the Help to Buy after 2021.

Thierry Henri Appointed New Head Coach of ASM Monaco

The former Arsenal and France football player is named as the new head coach for ASM Monaco.  At the Stade Maurice Chevalier, he was in the stands watching U19 Monaco play Ajaccio.  Thierry is happy and said he was thankful for the opportunity.
