Christmas Is Coming -Archbishop of Canterbury Tells Us About His Fears, His New Book, His Views

Journalist Julian Glover had an audience with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby who is a man with contemporary evangelical persuasion. He is described as a busy man, he even has appraisals of his work, he is approachable but gets straight to the point. St Augustine was canonized in 597 as the first Archbishop of Canterbury and Welby is the 105th in the post.

Welby used to be an executive in the oil industry and now leads the Anglican church in a country of many faiths and many people without faith. However, the church reaches out to help isolated people, addiction, ex-offenders and people in conditions of severe poverty.

His book called This Light is a collection of short essays by his ‘friends’ or having met them, though many are not Christians they made an impression. The book is meant to be spiritual and uplifting. Politicians who are making the world a fearful place with their actions, rhetoric and making stances that are to many radical to the detriment of society. When he was asked if he does worry that the world has become a darker place since he has been Archbishop? He starts by saying “Yes, but in the end that is God’s problem. I do not get caught up in worry about the future of the Church of God, there’s no point.”
