In the Gospel of Mathew 2:37-38, we are told to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important commandment.”
Yes! We love our parents because they gave birth to us and took care of us. For many of us, our parents are still taking care of us. They are so good to us.
We love them. We humans love those who are good to us. This makes them pleased and they can do even more for us.
There is no one on the surface of the earth who has done for us what God has done. He has done so much for us. He gave us parents and caused us to be conceived in our mother’s womb and to be born into this world. That is the greatest thing that ever happened to us. Life is our greatest gift; and comes from God.
This gift is not all God has done for us. He has given us the potential or ability to become anything that we desire to become; or to achieve whatever we desire to achieve. Is there any doubt, therefore, that we should love him more than anyone else or anything else?
Let us pray today that God may give us the grace to love him more and more every day and more than anything else in the world.
God our Father, so much you have given to me. You have given to me more than any human being can ever do. Grant me the grace O Lord, to love you more and more everyday. Amen!
