A people living in fear

Corn popped again tonight,
Like never before;
And after a long time;
No one talks of gunshots;
Though the real name;
Popcorn, everybody says;
When it starts to pop,
Fear waves begin to run
Through your body;
And everybody bolts the door,
And stays indoor;
As I write this,
It’s all quiet around;
It is a dead town;
Though once in a while,
I hear the sound of a bike;
Who that can be?
Where are they going?
What are they out for?
No one knows exactly;
Likely the corn poppers;
It only adds to the fear;
Fear, that is the word;
Fear, fear, fear.
A people living in fear.
