Inspiration through Bible Sharing 2

Our sharing text for today is taken from the Gospel of St. Matthew. Chapter 27:1-9.

Jesus took Peter, John and James and led them up a high mountain. There his appearance was changed before their eyes. Even his clothes shone, becoming as white as no bleach of this world could make them. Elijah and Moses appeared to them; the two were talking with Jesus.

Then Peter spoke and said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here; let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what to say; they were overcome with awe. But a cloud formed, covering them in a shadow, and from the cloud came this word, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him.” And suddenly, as they looked around, they no longer saw anyone except Jesus with them.

As they came down the mountain, he ordered them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man be risen from the dead. So they kept this to themselves, although they discussed with one another what ‘to rise from the dead’ could mean.

My sharing

What has touched me

The words that touch me most are the words “the Beloved, listen to him.”

They touch me because they are coming straight from God. Jesus Christ is God’s ‘Beloved’ and he commands us to listen to him. It is God’s command that we listen to Jesus. If we don’t listen to him, we disobey God.

After getting this message , I will obey this command. I will listen to Jesus. His voice is permanently talking to me in the Gospels. I will listen to him and try to the best of my ability to follow his teaching.

Word of life

My word of life for the day is listen. I will listen to Jesus throughout this day. This means I will spend time reading his thoughts and words and listening. And after listening, I will talk to him in prayer.

This will keep me rooted to Christ and we will be close.

Yesterday, my word of life was ‘kneel”. I effectively knelt before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and talked to him. I felt close and loved and I was happy. I pleaded with Jesus to help me sail successfully through the work in my hands in the days ahead.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your grace which has made it possible for me to read and reflect on and share your word. Grant me brothers and sisters in this forum the grace to better know, understand and love you.

This is my humble prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen!
