Inspiration through Bible sharing 31

27 ‘But I say this to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who treat you badly.

29 To anyone who slaps you on one cheek, present the other cheek as well; to anyone who takes your cloak from you, do not refuse your tunic.

30 Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask for your property back from someone who takes it.

31 Treat others as you would like people to treat you.

32 If you love those who love you, what credit can you expect? Even sinners love those who love them.

33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit can you expect? For even sinners do that much.

34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to get money back, what credit can you expect? Even sinners lend to sinners to get back the same amount.

35 Instead, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend without any hope of return. You will have a great reward, and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.

36 ‘Be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate.

37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.

38 Give, and there will be gifts for you: a full measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard used for you.’

Thank you!

What has touched me in a special way is the line “Give, and there will be gifts for you.” In fact, I enjoy the whole if verse 38. I happy that Jesus gives assurance that if I give, it will be given to me. This encourages me to increase my giving spirit; to give to the needy, to the church as generously as I can.

Today I resolve that I will give more than ever before to those in need as well as to the church to enhance the spread of the gospel.

My word of life is Forgive. Throughout this day, I will forgive anyone who wrongs. I will forgive even those who have wronged me already. I will not carry a grudge with me to bed.

Father in heaven, I thank you for your love and mercy despite my sins. Help me to be forgiving this day to anyone who sins against me.

This is my humble prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen!

Our Bible sharing program is not meant for us to preach to anyone, but to share how the chosen text touches us and what we intend to do to follow what it teaches or what we learn from it.

We may take a resolution flowing from the lessons we learn and chose a word of life to live by.

We end our sharing with a prayer that God may help us grow in our faith in him by living the Word as contained in the passage.

Daily scripture sharing is for our sanctification. enhances our piety and draws us closer to God. With increased fervor, we may follow with more promptness God’s divine inspirations; and with greater fidelity, observe God’s divine precepts.

This sharing should also enhance our gift of knowledge, by which we know the things of God, and through enlightenment by God’s Holy teaching, we may walk without deviation along the path of eternal salvation. With the gift of understanding we get to better understand the divine mysteries, contemplate heavenly things, teach and detach my thoughts and affection from the vain things of the world.

Come Holy Spirit! Fill the hearts of thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth thy spirit and they shall be created and thou shall renew the face of the earth.
