Send in the Doves

I took a reprieve from yard manicuring and sipped on a glass of tea. Without warning, three doves flew down to join me and fed on the seed my love scattered about the ground the previous day. They were only a few feet from my chair. Amazed and with exuberance, I surmised there must be a message in their trusting action. Am I being watched, I wondered? Is my every move being noted and written down for judgment day?

In scriptures, the dove is often used to represent aspects of God’s spirit, instructing our lives. It is a symbol of peace, but it held much more significance, for it affirmed Jesus as the Messiah. As John baptized Jesus, the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in bodily form like a dove – the anointing of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, other heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; Matthew 3:16

Also, Noah experienced a connection with these birds. Following the Flood, he sent out a dove. It flew out over the sea but then returned to the ark. Noah waited a week before he left it go again. This time…

“…the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth.” Genesis 8:11

The third time Noah sent out a dove, it did not return, revealing the dove had found a new home on the land of the earth. The message here? God had made peace with the earth and mankind.

The Lord held doves in greatness. One biblical event describes Jesus angrily driving out all the merchants from the Temple, including “those who sold doves” to worshipers (John 2:16). The happiest of birds, it identifies and represents divinity and purity, as Jesus acknowledged by His anger.

So, do you think God sends in the doves to confirm our faithfulness or as a subliminal sign He is near? It’s easy to comprehend because, after all,  signs from God are clear as the day is long.

I want to share a personal event in my life. I married my wife on a beach in Destin, Florida. Standing on a platform next to the tall grasses and sand dunes, we recited our sacred vows. At the exact moment the Justice of Peace declared us man and wife, three doves flew out of the grass and over our heads. We will never forget it!

At first, we believed it was our deceased parents showing their approval, but now we view it differently – it was the Lord! To this day, His abundant blessings affect our life.

So, Lord, send in the doves! I built my sanctuary in honor of You. It gives me the strength for all things of which I can do to serve You better. I keep one eye on my blessings and the other on Your arrival. Standing like a soldier, I shall remain in prayer and feeding the doves You sent to watch over me this morning.

I love the days I can share Christ with all my readers. So many seeks the Lord, but He joins me in my daily thoughts. Call on our Lord, and He will send doves your way if you just have faith and pray.  What a merciful Father, don’t you agree?

God’s Glorious Creation

Women are God’s glorious creation who fit perfectly into His grand plan. She expands His temple by giving birth and training her family to live adult, productive lives. How incredibly valuable mothers are to the Lord! But this nurturing reality didn’t exist for women in biblical times.

When God created Adam and Eve, he gave them equal reign of the earth. But as the forbidden fruit was eaten, so too, was the woman’s rights to help dominate the land. As the Judaism religion developed, they overplayed this scene – women had no rights. Their primary purpose in life was to give birth, raise children in the Jewish faith, and attend to all the needs within the home and for her husband. She was never to be seen outside socializing with others, nor within the temple walls.

However, under Mosaic Law, Israeli women enjoyed an honorable status, and men recognized their rights. Though husbands were head of the household, the wife could freely express her religion and work a job.

So, who made the world change their view of women? Jesus loved the female genus, and He highly respected them. He healed their ailments, allowed them to travel with Him, and made disciples of a few. To express their importance to Jesus, He even chose a woman to bear witness to his resurrection (Mary Magdalene).

Proverbs 31: 25-30 expresses God’s deep love for mothers:

God also gave guidelines to husbands and children:

“Honor your marriage; keep it pure by remaining true to your wife in every way.” Hebrews 13:4

“Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect…” 1 Peter 3:7

“My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching.” Proverbs 6:20

Mothers mold their offspring with love and integrity. In moments of illness, strife, or despair, their children remain foremost in their thoughts. They adorn their families with our lasting memories. Mothers, the Lord chose YOU to rear His creations and to love them as you love His Word. You are truly a gift.

To all the mothers who grow God’s kingdom, may you have a blessed and Happy Mother’s Day! Know you are so special and loved!

What is that bothering you ?

We are human beings.Most of us lead a so called ‘busy life’.Many claim so.

These are Covid days and you are cursing Everyone and the Almighty in particular  for all the uncertainties and the life not being busy.

What is happening actually ?

Once you are 18 + your responsibilities increase and before you realize,you have a family adding to your burden.

You are stuck with your work or go on changing the jobs,and you are ever busy chasing money and in the process make heavy losses instead of becoming rich.

Now you start comparing yourself with others whom you feel, leading a better life than yours, in spite of you better qualified.

At one stage with all the disappointments and dissatisfaction abound,you become dejected,sometimes depressed even violent,cursing yourself and rest of the others and now it’s the time for you to start the blame games.

Since you are a God fearing person you start looking up for help from the Heaven.

You become angry soon because you wished a quick fix because you are sincerely praying,but strangely remembering Him only during times you are in crisis.

By now you are getting agitated and annoyed because God is taking His own time,even testing your patience.

You begin to feel that He not listening to you and you start wondering whether His presence is real and wondering whether to continue to pray thinking Almighty wasting your time ! !

Covid times making your life miserable.

You start Doubting His credentials.
Why you feel God never answers your prayers ?

You are too distracted.

Now what ?

My friend,there is no need to lead this kind of wretched life.

This is not what life offers you.

Life is not wretched

Unknown to you,God has already given you His choicest blessings since you are His creation.

There are hundreds of special moments happening in your life to celebrate rather than to criticize.

Although you may feel nothing great happening ,remember you are always blessed by Him.You are much better off than the most of the people.

You may not be rich,but you have a loving family,good friends and most importantly your basic needs are met.What else you need ?

A young woman was sitting at her dining table,worried about taxes to be paid,housework to be done and to top it all her extended family was coming over for festival lunch the next day.

She was not feeling very thankful at that time.

As she turned her gaze sideways,she noticed her young daughter scribbling furiously into her notebook.

“My teacher asked us to write a paragraph on ‘negative thanks giving’ for homework today” said the daughter.”She asked us to write down things we are thankful for,things that make us feel not so good in the beginning,but turn out to be good after all”

With curiosity,the mother peeked into the book.This is what her daughter wrote.

” I am thankful for the final exams,because that means school is almost over.I am thankful for bad tasting medicine,because it helps me to feel better.I am thankful for walking up to the alarm clock,because it means I am still alive”.

It then dawned on the mother that she had lot of things to be thankful for ! She thought again……

She had to pay taxes but that meant she was fortunate to be employed.

She had housework to do but that meant she had a shelter to live in.

She had to cook for her many family members for lunch but that meant she had a family with whom she could celebrate.

We generally complain about negative things in life but we fail to look at the positive side of it.What is the positive in your negative ? Look at the better part of life and make your everyday a great day.

How many times you counted your blessings ?

I doubt.All the time you are busy complaining and pleading with the Almighty.

Don’t think of the things you didn’t get after praying.Think of countless blessings God gave you without asking unknown

That one day we all remember to thank God is on ‘Thanks giving day”,for the good things that have happened or happening.

Social distancing does not mean Spiritual distancing

Even though we are in the season of social distancing as a result of covid-19, we must not let it divert our attention from the only thing that matters or affect our relationship with God, rather it should draw us closer to Him.

He lives forever

As we celebrate Easter, know that the risen King has fully paid the price for us;

He was forsaken that we might always experience God’s presence.

He was made sin that we might be made His righteousness.

He was punished that we might be forgiven.

He was rejected that we might be accepted.

He was wounded that we might be healed.

He became poor that we might be rich.

He died and rose that we might live.

How can one access these divine blessings?

  • Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, and receive Him into your life (John 1:12)

  • Believe unto righteousness with your heart (Romans 10:10a)

  • Confess with your mouth. With the mouth, confession is made unto
    salvation (Romans 10:10b)

Happy Easter! The Lord make His face shine upon you with favor, and be gracious to you surrounding you with lovingkindness today and always.

House of Prayer

The bobbing little heads are so thankful to see me this morning. They’re grateful for the seed I throw their way. It is amazing they know it’s safe to fly out of the trees and eat, so long as I am there. Perhaps I am… a house of prayer for all my feathered fowl.

In my house of prayer, my humbled heart guides my conscience. I cannot list the blessed gifts God sent my wife and me in our short few years of marriage. But many people are not so fortunate…

Some families lost their finances, especially over the past few weeks. Others gambled their money, and even life savings, instead of reading the laws of God. In a Christian’s house of prayer, the Bible dictates this distinction:

Many abodes are filled with “prized possessions” from floor to ceiling. We can witness this sad condition on TV, such as “Hoarding: Buried Alive” and even “American Pickers.” Or, shoppers fill their carts with unnecessary items after each paycheck to fill a void in their heart. I must ask, “How can you love two Gods if you are a true Christian?” This ill-fated, psychological condition promotes money and the love of physical items. In this house of prayer, the Bible states:

We can easily find the standard salary of clergymen on the internet. It is far below the national average income. But some televangelists, who I call “false prophets,” steal from the poor to live in their dynasty. They build multi-million dollar lifestyles, believing they can buy into heaven’s gates. In their masonry house of prayer, the frigid winds blow through the cracks and crevices.

So, what kind of house of prayer is your residence? Is your home blessed, or does Satan appear to send signals of acceptable sin? If Jesus walked in your house today, would He feel the warmth of love and graciousness? Could He easily place His hands on your Bible?

Just like the little feeding birds, they eat only enough to fill their bodies. They, too, come to me for comfort. We should turn to God for life’s blessings. Share your bread, for it is His will you are supplied with His love, including the little birds that feed in your backyard.

I pray your life and home is a sanctuary, filled with God’s blessings and love. Be content with your basic needs being met and avoid materialism. It is only the flesh that yearns for the security of money. Our wealth belongs to God – and it’s a gift. Make Him first in your life. Only faith, prayer, and your walk in the light of God will bring you to His house of prayer.

God is Working on Our Tomorrows

As crazy as it sounds, many of my blogs begin in my mind with no introduction, title, or even a theme. But I feel God as He moves my spirit in His direction. Some ask how I know when I’ve received a message from the Lord. It’s a moment in time… sipping my first bit of coffee. Relaxing in my sweats, my spirit will begin to race, and just like that, a title and theme arrives in a telepathic message. I know it sounds odd, but…

God is working on my tomorrows

There isn’t a greater gift from the Lord than to help and encourage those who need or stay in prayer. No words can express my deepest humbleness as our Father addresses life’s daily situations. He brings the right people into our life when we keep with the rhythm of His great plans for us. God can work out the events of your life into a great masterpiece.

My wife and I met a wonderful woman this week who I can now call our sweet, new friend. As Christian and godly as she is, she may not comprehend how she is helping to do God’s mission on earth. It’s humbling to observe certain people as messengers for our Lord. Yet, they are unaware they are being used for the glory of God’s sole purpose. She is an amazing widow enthralled with helping me and others. I, too, enjoy her walk with the Lord. Living alone with memories of a wonderful world she once shared with her husband Charles, little does she know, she gave me hope. She uses her talent as a core gift to serve the Lord’s people.

God is working on our tomorrows

My spirit now moves within her, too, as she watches the waves break against the seawall. Ideas swelled through her mind and found their way to her conscious being. Barely awake, she wrote me a note, “I have ideas for you to undertake.” This is how God works on your tomorrows! He uses other Christians who crave sharing the Bread of Life. God knew how much we needed to meet this wonderful lady. Now a communion of kindred spirits, she has become part of His higher plan.

I cannot explain, short of writing another book, how the last few days of my life were an act of God. His timing is impeccable! Who would think, because of prayer, He’d be working on my tomorrows? As you allow God to take control of your life, He places those angelic people in your world to envision the shared dreams. You must come to a place of commitment with the Lord to experience His highest gifts. Trust in Him!

God is working on your tomorrows

To everyone with hopes and dreams – remain in prayer. Faith is the engine that generates toward the will of God. We serve an amazing Father, so seek if you have not, and pray in the sight of fear. Your devotion will become your very best friend, as you, too, will see… God is working on your tomorrows.

Let us pray,

Caring heavenly Father, I come before you on this day because I want to seek Your will for my life. Lord, rather than following my own direction in life. Because I know that in my heart I can stray from Your chosen path.

Father, I want to be successful in what I turn my hand to. For this reason, I want to do everything as unto YOU. So on this day, I come to place the desires of my heart before You. I also want to ask that in Your grace You will forward the plans I have for my life, in a way that is best pleasing to You.

Guide me Lord in the way of Your choosing. Father, as I lay before You the hopes and dreams of my heart, which I would dearly love to fulfill. Instead, I surrender them all to YOU, praying that you will lead me in the path that is best suited to carry out Your best work in me.

I ask this in the Name of the Lord Jesus. Amen

Entitlement

Today’s society is bombarded with many slogans that portray us to be “deserving” of something. Such self-focused messages are:

            “You deserve a break today…” used by McDonald’s

            “You owe it to yourself…” used by cruise lines

            “Treat yourself to take the break you deserve” used by Hilton HHonors

In the dynamics of families and relationships, how many times have you graciously gave a gift and never received a “thank you” of any kind? How often have you heard the stories of parents passing away, and the children fought over the estate and money? If a sibling or parent is near their deathbed, do they deserve to be treated with respect if they never reciprocated love to family members in a state of healthiness? What if a husband and wife purchase a home with their hard-earned money – should their children feel entitled to the parent’s assets?

Within the business world, employees arrive late and perform their duties with little ambition. They demand pay raises and better benefits. Are they really deserving of it? Or, a parent scrapes and works hard to grow a business, and their grown children now believe they’re entitled to run it when the parent is deceased.

Churches also run into the same dilemmas when the congregation feels entitled to receive answers from their pastors or to hold positions within the house of worship. And, while I walk down the path of religious connotations, many believers feel deserving of God’s blessings. Speaking of this, do you know why much of humanity walks away from God and stops believing in Him? They prayed for an answer they wanted to hear and didn’t receive it. He was a means to get what they felt entitled to in life! Ironically, I believe our church leaders are responsible for this incorrect train of thought. They stand on the pulpit and preach God will meet all our needs and give them their desires if they pledge their soul to Jesus. The fact is our sin separates us from the Lord.

Entitlement is a dangerous walk in life – it’s Godlessness. Let me be frank here – God, parents, and employers owe us nothing. God blesses us with things because He wants to – an unconditional love of grace. A selfish demand for His generosity will reap no benefits. It’s that simple!

Jesus’ ministry spoke of loving others with a grateful heart. This includes treating each other with respect, even amidst our differences. The well-being of gratitude promotes healthy relationships, both in our walk with the Lord and relationships with others.

In the subject of parenting, fewer children today respect their elders. They ignore the recognition parents deserve for years of hard work and dedication to their families because they live in the “gimme, gimme” world. These generations are gifted with their heart’s desires, and they expect it from the parents. Thus, the slogans I mentioned at the beginning of the message above, come into play. As the children grow older, they feel entitled to life. Little do we know, it promotes laziness, ungratefulness, and the subject of this blog – entitlement. What are we teaching our children and others?

So, how can we live a life feeling less entitled to things and people?

•          Humbly give thanks to God for all we receive. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

•          Remember the grace of God, for Jesus died on the cross for our sins. We do not deserve to be treated with graciousness for our sinful attitudes, but the Lord’s love and grace reaches out to us, anyway. “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” Titus 3:3-5

•          Set your mind on eternity with the Lord and not on this world. Money and physical possessions mean nothing, for they cannot be taken with you to heaven. “But, as it is written, what no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him…” 1 Corinthians 2:9

•          Continuously pray for discernment of entitlement. Why do I feel entitled, and how can I change this train of thought?

In summary of today’s message, expect little, receive with a grateful heart, and always give thanks. Give God the glory for your unexpected blessings!

Goodbye 2019

Last night I told my mom. when she said she was grateful 2019 was almost over, there were good things which happened in 2019.

Be grateful for the good things in 2019 and leave behind the rest.

I say again: BE GRATEFUL FOR THE GOOD THINGS IN 2019 AND LEAVE THE REST BEHIND.

Going further, be grateful for the lessons learned from the bad things that happened in 2019.

Overall, move in 2020 with a grateful heart. Forgive the events, people, and perhaps most importantly, yourself. Gratitude for the what was and gratitude for what will be. This is the best way to progress into the next decade.

I end with my favorite Scripture. Philippians 4:4-9:

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
