It has been three long months at a B-School while I am still trying to adjust to its hectic ways and demands. Joining a curriculum straight after a weak graduation does not seem to be a wise move but I am glad like few others I have been able to make it and I am breathing fine. While I still panic at times to decipher the meanings of the occurrences around me, I make several observations, few of which need to be learned and many to be discarded as irrelevant happenings. Being one of the youngest people at my college, what I really feel blessed about is when many people confide in me. However some confessions really strike hard leaving me in wonder.
Are we supposed to be going by the worldly ways that are common and seemingly right or abide by our morals that rarely make our conscience speak urging us to take the path that might not be clichéd?
Anyway my purpose is not to question morals regarding what is right or wrong for I feel it is all a personal choice and a matter of the upbringing but yes I wish to assert that what is common is not what is natural!
Being a part of one of the coolest gang in my college, many a times I am offered drinks and cigarettes, however since I am adamant on not trying these, I am more and often forced to go for it in the lieu of missing out something really great and worth trying! What has been strange was when two of the members of the same group approached me personally, individually regarding the issues they had been facing in regard to the addictions. I was really shocked by the fact that those were the same people regretting who were forcing me the most in the group to drink and smoke. Well, I didn’t know how to react while they confessed their regret for they were elder to me. But it was really despicable to know that they were indulging in something that they actually didn’t enjoy. Of course I could easily sense from their conversations that it was a way out to escape from the daily tensions but cannot there be another way to evade the stress levels?
Well, I had no advice for them because I actually didn’t know what would work but all I could explain to them was relatively in terms of how they were getting trapped and succumbing themselves to the slavery of these addictions. Hearing their individual rants, one thing became very clear that all of it starts with peer pressure and the worst part is that despite knowing the harmful impacts, they are unable to quit it.
Another trait of human being that comes forward is that the one who is trapped in this vicious cycle of vices, feels pleasure and relief to have others on the same way as well. Making the incorrect correct has become very common nowadays and so it is really a tough call for people with a gullible mind to follow their intuition. Maybe that is the reason of our dying conscience as the world is so fond of making common vices seem like a natural process and ironically it happens to an extent that the line between the right and the wrong vanishes slowly.
‘Doing what one believes in’ is still not a banal quote to say for most of us still act out of pressure which can be family, peer and societal that succumbs our mind and weakens our heart. Undoubtedly it depletes our aura and breaks our determination for we end up committing regretting actions which we later try to justify by falsely convincing ourselves ‘ it is okay , it happens! ’
Before this article turns out to be a boring moral lesson , I got to write this simple reminder that let us not be a victim of the unconscious moves but rather be thoughtful of the consequences before we again end up doing just another common thing!
Sorry I missed yesterday. I did not do a recreational walk. But there is good reason.
I now work at a Hotel as Housekeeper. I have to be there at 8 am. With Autumn and Winter coming on sunrise isn’t until 6:30ish. While I get home between 2 pm and 5 pm I am A) Sore and tired B) Have other things to do and C) Soon sunset will be too early to walk after work.
This does not mean I am giving up my daily walks. I will still walk on my days off and on the treadmill. Though pictures of my time/distance will not be as interesting.
Right now though is still a physical adjustment to the work. I ran my walking app only during my shift yesterday, it registered almost 6 miles of walking. My hours yesterday were 8 am to 2:30 pm. The app does not measure all the bending, lifting, stretching and other physcial movement I do.
I have done Housekeeping before. I have been a server. When I worked food service at Target I not only walked but lifted frozen boxes of breadsticks among other things.
I have worked office jobs as well. What I have learned is I need to work the physically demanding jobs. I feel better overall when I do.
Got off subject a bit there. Point of this rambling is I will try and post pictures of daily walks as often as possible…they may be futher apart or not as interesting.
Not sure if I am headed outside to walk today. Might be a treadmill day.

Good news my voice is back. Bad news. More rain. Which is good for farmers…sorta…a bit late though.
However! I started a job as Housekeeper at Holiday Inn Express today. Talk about miles walked!
Hoping the rain up so I can get some fresh air walking time in (and pictures) tomorrow.
So I posted on my blog, acliddle.blog, yesterday that was unable to walk due to rain and the migraine that came with it.
Today it is still raining and while I do not feel sick, I have lost my voice, and I am fatigued.
Rather than another missed post I thought I would tell a couple of stories about loose cows.
I am not sure how they got out but in both cases their escapes were precipitated by…well precipitation..rain, and storms. I am not sure if the cows became restless or what but there it is.
The first story: I was driving home from work, on the backroads through the country. Ahead of me I saw three cars in the on coming lane with their flashers on. Then I saw in my lane, heading towards me a what looked to be pregnant cow. I was able to get around her, for she was not to be detoured from her path. Further down the road I saw the possible pasture she had escaped from. Then I noticed in the ditch another cow who had decided to take a walk. This cow did not look pregnant.
The second story: Today I was riding with a friend; we were going into town for errands. We came around a curve, right before a small bridge and there meandering around, were six cows on the side of road. Not sure what pasture they came from. They were gone by the time we were headed back.
Ah Life in the Country.
Today I had nine out of 12 people wave today. I also unintentionally walked a 5K (3.14 miles) and in 50 minutes!

While India traditionally celebrates Guru Purnima. The birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (5 September) is also celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India since 1962. This is the primary reason why countries celebrate this day on different dates, unlike many other International Days…
Guru Purnima is an Indian and Nepalese festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. This festival is traditionally celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists, to pay their respects to their teachers and express their gratitude. The festival is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July) as it is known in the Hindu calendar of India and Nepal. This day marks the first peak of the lunar cycle after the peak of the solar cycle. The celebration is marked by ritualistic respect to the Guru, Guru Puja.
The Guru Principle is said to be a thousand times more active on the day of Guru purnima than on any other day. The word Guru is derived from two words, gu and ru. The Sanskrit root gu means darkness or ignorance, and ru denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore, a Guru is one who removes the darkness of our ignorance. Gurus are believed by many to be the most necessary part of life. On this day, disciples offer pooja (worship) or pay respect to their Guru (spiritual guide). In addition to having religious importance, this festival has great importance for Indian academics and scholars. Indian academics celebrate this day by thanking their teachers as well as remembering past teachers and scholars.
The birth date of the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, 5 September 1888, has been celebrated as Teacher’s Day since 1962. On this day, teachers and students report to school as usual but the usual activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanks and remembrance. In some schools, senior students take the responsibility of teaching in order to show their appreciation for the teachers.
This is my bed. It is a black metal futon frame with a Full size mattress on it. The futon came with a typical futon mattress and for over two years I slept on the futon mattress (though I added a foam eggshell mattress topper).
Realized several years ago my mental health is going down the tubes when my kitchen gets to be a mess. The kitchen is the one room in the house I need to have clean. I can have piles of papers and clean and dirty clothes but if there are piles of dishes in the sink and the stove is not wiped off then something is wrong.
More recently I have discovered how much making my bed affects my mental state. My grandmother used to always make her bed. She made mine too, and tried to get me to make my own bed when I was old enough. My grandparent’s bed had a bed skirt and everything. It was a Queen size bed. Box Spring, mattress, and a wooden headboard. The Headboard matched the dresser and both were given to my grandparent’s as a gift from some of the parishioners of one of the Churches Grandfather served.
My grandmother had a hand embroidered Quilt Set. It was white with a blue cornflower motif. The bed skirt, top quilt, and several throw pillows made up the set. She would make the bed as most people do. Fitted sheet, Top sheet, light cover (made for sleeping) and the decorative cornflower top quilt (not made for sleeping). She would finish it off with the decorative pillows.
Yeah, that isn’t me. I learned from grandfather how to make hospital corners. My first job was a housekeeper at a Days Inn. So I made plenty of beds….not necessarily my own. For a long time even sleeping with any type of sheet on the bed was a hit or miss. I don’t do Top sheets at all. I was staying at friend’s house and her parents had a sleeper sofa. To make it more comfortable her mom had put one of the crushed velveteen blankets under the fitted sheet. Then the Top sheet and the sleeping cover. No need for a decorative quilt on a sleeper sofa. Without the use of my CPAP I run marathons in my sleep. I turn to one side and then the other. One time I did a complete 180 in my bed and woke up where my feet had been when I went to sleep the night before. Anyway, the next day when my friend’s mom went to strip and remake the bed we discovered I had not only bunched up the top sheet under the cover but I had somehow manage to strip the velveteen blanket under the fitted sheet without removing the fitted sheet.
At this point in my life my bedding consist of a fitted sheet, the blanket you see on the bed in the photo and three body pillows–with pillow casings (another non consistent item in my bed making). I added the only two throw pillows I have left which I care about. The Hello Kitty one I found while touring an empty apartment. It was in a really high cabinet which may or may not have had a rifle in it as well. The realtor agent never told me. The second throw pillow is in the color and has the House Crest of my favorite House in Harry Potter: Slytherin. The pillow was hand embroidered by a friend of mine who loves Harry Potter as much (or even more) than I do.
While my bed is simple to make, the act of making it, and of laundering sheets, pillowcases, and cover one a month or as needed, gives me sense of peace and order; starting my day off on the right note.
My suggestion to anyone who feels out of control or anxiety ridden or in a bad place mentally is to find the “making your bed” thing to help you through, to get you back on track. It might be journaling when you first wake up, or having a cup of coffee, or walking, or it make actually be making your bed. Whatever it is, having one thing which helps all the other things in life move easier through day is invaluable.

Be the woman you want to be, not the woman everyone else expects you to be. God makes no mistakes. If you look at it from that perspective, you will see that you are a perfect creation of what he intended when he created you. Be proud of who you are. After all, you’re not only a one in a million…you’re a once in a lifetime.
Synchronicity is a concept introduced by the Analytical Psychologist Carl Jung in the early 1920s, full extrapolation in the 1950s, which states seemingly random events of one’s life, the “coincidences,” may have meaning even if there is no causality to those events. Causality meaning it broad terms everything has a cause. Nothing can happening without being cause. Synchronicity says X,Y,Z happened and it is all related even if it does not seem to have a connection at all.
This concept is not limited to Psychology. There are parallel theories in Quantum Physics and Mathematics. Chaos Theory, brought into the mainstream partly by the character of Ian Malcolm in Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park, discusses how there is inherent order in a system of what appears to be complete chaos. Butterfly Effect, besides being a bad movie starring Ashton Kutcher, is an aspect of Chaos Theory. The famous line quoted to sum up the idea, “A Butterfly flaps its wings in China, a rainstorm hits in St. Louis, Missouri.” (Use of St. Louis, Missouri is ambiguous.)
What seems to be a random occurrence somehow affects something else completely unrelated half a world away.
The brain categorizes automatically everyday. It is one of the defense or regulatory mechanisms the mind deploys to use and store data and stimuli without becoming overwhelmed. Finding patterns helps us make sense of the world. When the brain cannot find a pattern or a reason behind something happening there is a momentary confusion, glitch.
When a person has a slight glitch in the information their brain receives, as to where it comes from or what it might mean, the person chooses to ignore it, writes it off as coincidence, or reads it as a sign from a High Power or Intuition. Most confused moments are not a big enough break in the mundane routine to cause much thought. Some claim the need to find causation or meaning or reasoning behind daily phenomenon is how Deities were created. Regardless, in order for the brain to function and people to continue to work, eat, breath everyday the glitches had to be minimized.
Beyond the divine, paranormal or psychology connectivity our brains need there is physical evidence of actually connectivity outside of our minds. Ecosystems, civilizations, humans and non humans are connected in many ways. We affect each other, share the same air, water, dirt. Genetically, structurally, chemically all things, living and non, share degrees.
So there is truth to patterns. There is truth to chaos and order. There is truth in connectivity.
Now, as for the acceptance or belief if Synchronicity the person’s belief systems come into play.
In the next part I will talk about my own experiences which have lead me to believe in Synchronicity. I also believe Synchronicity continues to work in my life to this day.
