America Is Out of Options: It Is Time to Close the Border [Video]

Close the Border

In January of 2019, the Democrat Left in Congress and the Leftmedia were mocking President Trump (and his supporters) for claiming there was a real “crisis” on the southern border and declaring a National Emergency as a result. However, soon after Trump’s declaration even the Leftmedia has begun to admit a true crisis exists.

That’s because the figures for 2019, most notably for March, were simply undeniable. Though there are no official numbers for the month, however, the daily and weekly reports assure us that well over 100,000 apprehensions at the border will be the result.

President Trump recently reiterated a threat to close the southern border to stop the crisis.

The President is correct in this assessment as he was in declaring a National Emergency at the border for many reasons. To begin with, we must deal with what the numbers, as large as they are, do not tell us.

What the Numbers Don’t Tell Us

However, even those numbers don’t tell the full story about two facts that increase the need for immediate border security. The first fact is often passed over by most commentators, whether on the Left or Right side of the issue.

It is that the 100,000+ number does not include those who were not apprehended.

The Border Patrol used to do official estimates of the numbers of those who got away.

“For years, the Border Patrol (BP) officially used to report the ‘gotaway’ rate, those who ‘got away’ from apprehension.  For decades, it was felt that on a ‘good day,’ the Border Patrol caught one in five illegal aliens, on a ‘bad day,’ the number was one in seven.”

However, that all stopped during the Obama administration. This policy change occurred in August of 2016.

Even a very conservative “gotaway” rate of 50% results in over 200,000 illegals entering last month which should make the urgency of closing the border much greater.

The second fact which many are not taking into account is the demographics of those who are coming today as compared with the last time the numbers of apprehensions were this high. That was in the early 2000s, and back then the vast majority were Mexican nationals and they were working-age males.

Close the borderToday, a growing number of immigrants showing up are women with children from Central American countries, and some of them are not even the parents of those particular children! It is far easier to claim asylum as a child or a woman with children than as a single male.

U.S. Border Patrol Deputy Chief Patrol Agent Roy Villareal told Fox News, “The situation at the border is unprecedented. We are being overwhelmed with migrants, principally family units and children, and then people that are from countries other than Mexico.” Villareal added that for the first time in the Border Patrol’s history, the majority of the agency’s arrests were “other-than-Mexican nationals.”

There are also incidences of unaccompanied minors arriving at the border alone. They journey at terrible risk of assault, death, and disease creating a humanitarian border crisis that Border Patrol is charged to handle with resources totally inadequate for the job.

Border Patrol agents have heroically attempted to care for the immediate needs of the immigrant families and children for food, shelter and medical care. However, they are not enough in numbers, expertise, or facilities to cope with the current situation.

They arrive with the knowledge that if they claim asylum because of “credible fear,” they will be let into the United States upon a judgment of that claim and an order to appear in two to five years for final adjudication of their claims. Over 90% of those charged to appear in court never show up for their asylum hearing, and disappear in the country.

The news that even more large ‘caravans’ of illegal immigrants are on their way to the border to add to the current number should emphasize the absolute necessity of closing the border now.

Closing the Border Is the Only Way to Halt the Invasion

Close the borderThere is no question that this incredible amount of people arriving from mostly Central American nations can be legitimately called an invasion. Since these stats use the base of a fiscal year, the 2019 figures are the total from November and December of 2018 plus January of 2019.

According to the statistics from the CBP [Customs and Border Protection], in the fiscal year of 2018,  migrants held between the ports of entry totaled 521,090. In FY2019 so far, the total is 318,407 and the year is only a third of the way along!

The next set of numbers will cover February, March, and April of 2019 and I predict the result will be doubled to over 600,000 in just six months! This is the equivalent to the population of a city the size of Denver, Colorado invading America in the last six months alone.

The goal of those orchestrating and encouraging this invasion is to overwhelm the immigration system and cause chaos within America as a result. The political enablers of such an army of illegals come from the Democratic party and a handful of establishment Republicans.

The business community interests lie with continuing to acquire low-wage workers which they can exploit as cheap labor for various industries. The Left’s interests are also nefarious, for they wish to transform America into a Socialist nation via a new crop of illegal aliens who consistently favor the Democratic party.

Millions upon millions of illegal aliens, perhaps as many as 40 million now already strain the limits of our government’s assistance capabilities. A recent study by Yale University put out an estimate of about 22 million illegal aliens residing in America today.

However, as has been shown in this journal and elsewhere, that figure is a huge underestimate.

By applying the additional variables of those who leave and repeat offenders, a more accurate number has been estimated by retired Border Patrol chiefs at 40 to 50 million illegals in the United States today.

Halting the Illegal Invasion Is the Key

close the borderClosing the border is not without cost. Trade across the border would cease because travel in either direction would be halted or severely restricted.

That will adversely affect the country economically. However, the economic sacrifices involved in closing the border pale next to the terrible price all levels of society would pay should the border not be closed.

The act might have to be enforced with the aid of the military, depending on how much of the border is actually ordered closed. People on both sides of the line would be at risk of injury and death should the situation escalate by some foolish behavior such as trying to rush the border.

Yet the cost of not closing the border is far greater. It could mean the death of America as we know it, and its inevitable decline into a Socialist nightmare dwarfing any in history.

Closing the border is not the solution for America’s immigration debacle. However, unless this invasion is first halted there will be no time for a solution and the collapse of the nation under the sheer volume of people illegally entering will be imminent.

The true long-term solutions involve an overhaul of the immigration policies as well as vigorous enforcement of the laws already on the books. Moreover, long-term border security must include the completion of a border wall.

Otherwise, we will continue to have a de-facto open border, and that cannot be tolerated in any sovereign nation. A nation with open borders is a nation without borders, and a nation without borders is not a nation at all.

Not only must the border be closed, but it should also remain closed until the wall is finished and the asylum loophole is fixed. America is out of time and options at this point.

So please, Mr. President, regardless of what the Left may howl and even what the courts may try to stop, follow through and exercise your Constitutional authority to close the southern border. For America’s sake, I pray, as do many others, that God continues to grant you the strength and wisdom for the task.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

Intentional Immigration Ignorance, Part Two: A Wall Is Not Enough [Video]

Illegal Immigration

In part one we saw that building a physical barrier on America’s southern border is a wise and moral action to confront the invasion of illegal aliens into the country. However, though it is wise and moral, building a border wall, even a wall that completely halted illegal entry, would not be enough.

There are two additional measures that must be taken to halt the illegal immigration threat. Moreover, they must be taken quickly lest the nation is overwhelmed.

Asylum Law Must Change

The primary task is changing the asylum law in the United States. This must happen because no wall will stop this avenue of invasion.

Current law is a different version of the ‘catch and release’ method made famous in the Obama presidency.  The policy was originally created because of a court settlement during former President Bill Clinton’s administration.

At the time, it began with a Federal court ruling requiring Law Enforcement to briefly detain, and then release unaccompanied minors who show up at the border. They could be released to parents, other relatives, or into a licensed care giver’s hands.

If that was impossible,

As a last resort, U.S. officials may place children in the “least restrictive” setting available.

Illegal ImmigrationThe policy was also used liberally by the George W. Bush administration during the early 2000s until they halted the practice in 2008. President Obama reinstated and expanded the ‘catch and release’ policy in 2016, and under that reinstatement, anyone who could convince the Border Patrol they qualified for asylum would be released into the United States.

President Trump attempted to halt this with an executive order and, predictably, a Federal court in San Francisco blocked it. However, the President had something up his sleeve for just such an eventuality.

the Trump Administration has quietly negotiated an agreement with Mexico that effectively circumvents US courts to implement one of Trump’s biggest immigration-policy wins so far: A plan that will keep Central American applicants for asylum in the US on the Mexican side of the border while their claims are processed.

The agreement is not yet in force, however, it is only a temporary solution. Moreover, it doesn’t address applicants from countries outside of Central America that are showing up at the border in increasing numbers.

Basically, this is how it works today. When a family group, usually a woman with children, shows up at the border, they must do two things. First, they must surrender to the Border Patrol.

Illegal ImmigrationSecond, they must claim or apply for asylum. To qualify for asylum they must show a “credible fear,” of severe danger from their home countries.

Those who claim domestic violence or extreme poverty do not qualify for asylum. There is no such animal as ‘economic’ asylum.

Once this is accomplished, the family is released with an order to appear in court and have their asylum claim adjudicated. As you might have guessed, most don’t appear.

In fact, over 90% don’t make their court date. They aren’t tracked during the time until the day of their asylum hearing because, until their scheduled appearance, they are not considered in violation of the law.

It can be two years or more between illegal entry and the date of the asylum hearing, giving newcomers ample time to disappear into the interior of the country. This along with the increasing humanitarian crisis at the border prove the President right in declaring a National Emergency.

These facts have not escaped the attention of those whose interests lie with the illegal invasion. The word has been out south of the border, and people are taught to show up, with a child, surrender and even told the proper words to say to be able to claim asylum.

Moreover, the invitation to flood the border was practically given to Central America by the statements and policies of the Obama administration.

The Obama government and its media puppets celebrate the decline in border apprehension numbers from 2014 to 2015 as a sign of “success,” while they are silent on the Border Patrol policies that deliberately discourage Border Patrol officers from apprehending border jumpers. Those anti-enforcement policies are numerous, but some are downright unbelievable:  Would you believe the government’s Customs and Border Patrol official agency website has a section devoted to telling illegal border crossers how to avoid capture?
Would you believe that website also advises illegal aliens how to file a complaint against the Border Patrol or its sister agency, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), if they were apprehended in violation of the published rules of engagement?

A long-term change to this legal and virtually open-border situation must happen soon.

However, there is one other action that must happen even sooner. It is imperative that the southern border be closed, as quickly as possible.

The Border Must Be Closed

Illegal ImmigrationWhile changing the law is primary, the most urgent step that must be taken if America is to survive the crushing wave of illegal immigration currently underway is to close the border. That is the only way to create enough time for a real change in immigration law to be enacted and take effect.

The numbers of border apprehensions have greatly increased during the first two months of 2019, and the immediate prognosis is for even larger numbers of illegal aliens to inundate the border.

According to the statistics from the CBP [Customs and Border Protection], in the fiscal year of 2018,  migrants held between the ports of entry totaled 521,090. In FY2019 so far, the total is 318,407 and the year is only a third of the way along!

Each fiscal year runs from October to September of the following calendar year. America is on pace to more than double FY2018’s total in 2019.

In other words, should the pace continue at the current speed, border apprehensions will easily exceed 1 million, making it close to 2 million illegal aliens invading in the past two years alone! Thus, President Trump was correct in declaring the situation a National Emergency.

To his credit, the President seems to have also recognized the necessity of closing the border. He has threatened to do so on more than one occasion.

The latest warning about closing the border came via a tweet in December of 2018.

Donald J. Trump

…..close the Southern Border. Bring our car industry back into the United States where it belongs. Go back to pre-NAFTA, before so many of our companies and jobs were so foolishly sent to Mexico. Either we build (finish) the Wall or we close the Border……

49.8K people are talking about this

However, I believe the President may be waiting too long to start the process of closing the border. I submit that his reasoning should not be an insistence on building the wall or closing the border.

Instead, it is more prudent to first close the border so that the wall can be finished. Both building the wall and changing the asylum laws should be done before the border is reopened.

The Window of Opportunity Is Closing Fast

Many people have been hoodwinked by the false narratives of the Left concerning illegal immigration. Perhaps the worst of these has been the ongoing claim that there are around 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States.

This claim has been around for a long time. It has also been a fiction for a long time.

Closer to reality is a September 2018 study conducted at Yale University on the subject.

Professors at Yale University have roiled the immigration debate with a new study calculating there are between 16 million and 30 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. — as much as three times more than most demographers figure. The professors’ model looked at estimates of how many people came illegally, and how many people likely left, and concluded there are a lot more people who arrived than the 11 million suggested by traditional estimates. The model says the most likely figure is double that, at about 22 million.

However, 22 million is actually a very conservative figure, in fact, too conservative. The upper limit of the numbers estimated, 30 million, is an undercount as well.

New Migrant Caravan – G. Arjas/AFP/Getty

The Yale study got one thing correct. The 11 million official figure, still used by the U.S. Census Department, is a fiction. However, they were missing two key facts in their analysis, and there was no way to account for those facts.

First of all, we do not know how many people are in America illegally because of overstaying their visa. Those with visas are not tracked as they are already here legally until their visa expires.

Second, and most revealing of all is this bit of information. Neither Yale nor anyone else can know the total of those who were not apprehended.

Remember, these extreme numbers of more than 1 million count only those who are caught by the Border Patrol, not those who got away. The Border Patrol used to do official estimates of the numbers of those who got away.

For years, the Border Patrol (BP) officially used to report the “gotaway” rate, those who “got away” from apprehension.  For decades, it was felt that on a “good day,” the Border Patrol caught one in five illegal aliens, on a “bad day,” the number was one in seven.

However, that all stopped during the Obama administration. This policy change occurred in August of 2016.

Obama’s Border Patrol has officially abandoned the use of the “Gotaway” number in weekly and quarterly reports of apprehensions. For decades, the Border Patrol routinely compiled and reported the Gotaway number as a supplement to the number of actual apprehensions.

By applying the additional variables of those who leave and repeat offenders, a more accurate number has been estimated by retired Border Patrol chiefs at 40 to 50 million illegals in the United States today.

This is an astounding number, but it is far closer to reality than most want to admit. And it is getting larger by leaps and bounds every day.

It is no longer a question of stopping an invasion of illegal aliens because we have already been invaded by millions of them, many of whom are not loyal to America or respectful of her laws. The immediate question now is how to stop the number from getting simply too large to cope with, even in the currently ‘rich’ U.S.A.

The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deceiving. Proverbs 14:8 [ESV]

Intentional Immigration Ignorance from the Left, Part One [Video]

Illegal Immigration

I must admit rarely visit Twitter these days except to post. I prefer sites with less censorship of conservative views in particular.

However, my account lives and I monitor it occasionally to keep tabs on friends and foes alike. I think of it as using the enemy to better know the enemy.

A particular post caught my attention recently dealing with the subject of the fight over a border wall on America’s southern border. The poster asked why President Trump had not fought this hard for a wall in the first two years of his presidency when there was a Republican majority in both houses of Congress.

The question was a good one and a thoughtful and honest crack at an answer was warranted. The responses on Twitter provided not one example of that.

Abysmal Ignorance on Display

Illegal ImmigrationInstead, the vast majority of around 100 responses I read were of two types. One was to say that Trump waited because somehow Putin told him to wait.

That response is ridiculous on its face. As should be evident by now, continuing to insist on the ‘Russian collusion’ factless fantasy is ignorance personified.

However, the other type of response reveals a level of ignorance so high as to defy belief. That was to insist that ‘walls don’t work,’ or words to that effect.

It seems superfluous to refute the assertion that ‘walls don’t work.’ After all, the people who keep saying this know better if they but channel their life experience.

We all live with the reality of walls either keeping us in or keeping us out of various places. We conduct our affairs recognizing that some kind of physical barrier might be in the place where we live, work or play.

The real experts on the border know that physical barriers do work. Here is one expert, the former chief of the Border Patrol under President Obama talking about it.

Perhaps a look at some basic definitions will be helpful since the Left has also been ridiculing the president because he has favored a steel barrier which can be seen through instead of a concrete wall. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary has a number of definitions for the word “wall.”

Among the plethora of definitions is the following:

6 something resembling a wall (as in appearance, function, or effect) especially something that acts as a barrier or defense

Since ‘something that acts as a barrier or defense’ is an official definition for a wall, the structure that President Trump is promoting can reasonably be called a wall. The nitpicking Left has once again engaged in diverting the conversation from the real issue, and intentionally or not, spreading more ignorance.

Is This Ignorance Intentional?

Illegal ImmigrationThere are two basic conclusions that one could come to when asking this question. One is that Leftist declarations about immigration are sincerely ignorant expressions from those who don’t know any better.

If that is the case then one could optimistically say what my mother used to say when I was a child complaining about harsh treatment from another. She would smile and say, “If they knew better, they’d do better.”

While I don’t think that is necessarily true, I have inherited enough from my awesome mother to remain somewhat hopeful. Conversely, what is the other conclusion to be reached here?

If these Leftist ramblings are not simply ignorant, then they are displaying nonsense intentionally. Which also means that these are tactics with malevolent motives.

To be fair it should be noted that the everyday person on the street who identifies as a liberal or progressive is enormously uninformed on a number of political subjects. While this is negligent behavior, it doesn’t necessarily signal an evil intention.

The same should not be said about the Leftmedia and the political leaders of the Left. One, in particular, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi [D. CA] made a particularly ignorant statement recently when she claimed that walls “are immoral.”

An inanimate object can only represent a moral or immoral principle. Therefore, the real question then is whether or not building a wall on America’s southern border has either a moral or an immoral motive behind it.

Building the Wall Is Moral

Inset. order for an object to represent a moral motive that object must direct attention toward an action that is essentially good. It can be good because it promotes a positive result or stops a negative one.

In the case of building a border wall, this action is good in both of these ways. It is a positive good because it promotes the national sovereignty of the United States.

A physical barrier establishes the existence of a national border beyond just lines on a map. Moreover, a wall also helps protect American citizens from being overwhelmed with the negatives that swarms of illegal aliens bring with them.

That brings the discussion toward the moral action of stopping the invasion from the south. The Left is adept at denying all the negative effects of such an invasion, including one in particular that they don’t like to talk about.

The one absolutely destructive result the Left tries to keep on ‘the down-low’ is the legitimizing giving illegal aliens the right to vote. The first step toward that goal has already been taken in the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives which recently passed a bill allowing non-citizens to vote.

The border wall represents a moral good both in a positive purpose and by helping to prevent the harm of an invasion of illegal aliens. However, to truly accomplish strong border security and enforcement, a wall is not enough.

Much more will have to be done to truly avert a potential catastrophe in America, and it will have to be done soon. That is what we will examine in part two, so stay tuned folks.

Son of man, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their watchman, and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet and warns the people, then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. …But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand. Ezekiel 33:2-6 [ESV]

Two ‘Newbies” in the House: A Comparative Assessment [Video]

AOC and Dan Crenshaw

The U.S. Capitol Building at night

The current crop of freshmen Representatives in the U.S. Congress feature some colorful personalities as well as diverse perspectives. Admittedly, the Democratic newbies have gotten the most attention because of radical statements, policy proposals, and controversies.

However, there is one Republican rookie who has been turning heads, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw. It might be illuminating to assess this GOP rising star in comparison with the Left’s most meteoric House member, N.Y. Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Their Resumes

What do we know about AOC and Crenshaw before they came to Congress? What might serve as a hypothetical resume for each of them?

Inset.Image.’s start with Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. She grew up in the Bronx, New York City as the daughter of a father of Puerto Rican descent who was born in America, and a mother who was born in Puerto Rico.

Her involvement with politics began while she was attending college at Boston University. She became an intern in the immigration office of Senator Ted Kennedy during his final year in the Senate.

What AOC says about that time is illustrative.

I was the only Spanish speaker, and as a result, as basically a kid—a 19-, 20-year-old kid—whenever a frantic call would come into the office because someone is looking for their husband because they have been snatched off the street by ICE, I was the one that had to pick up that phone, …I was the one that had to help that person navigate that system.

AOC graduated from Boston University in 2011 with a degree in international relations and economics. She went back to her home in the Bronx to help support her mother, as her father had passed in 2008.

Her next foray into politics came as an organizer for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign. She was inspired to run for office during her work traveling the country for Sanders.

AOC’s campaign and election resembled something straight out of a Hollywood script, especially her victory in the Democratic primary. While working as a bartender, she managed to defeat a 10-time incumbent Democrat who had a huge advantage in funding.

What about Representative Crenshaw? His ‘resume’ is slightly different. First off, he is five years older than AOC, having been born in 1984.

Dan CrenshawCrenshaw grew up in Katy, Texas. His mother died when he was a child, and afterward, he lived with his father who worked in the oil industry.

Since his father traveled and lived for long periods of time overseas, Crenshaw spent time living in Ecuador and Columbia as a youth. He became proficient in Spanish during those years, which is perhaps the only characteristic he and AOC share.

Crenshaw graduated from Tufts University in 2006. During his time at Tufts, he joined the Reserve Officers Training Corps [ROTC] and became a commissioned officer in the Navy after graduation.

He became a Navy SEAL and served 10 years which included three tours of duty overseas. In 2012 while serving in Afghanistan, he was injured by an Improvised Explosive Device [IED] and lost his right eye as a result.

As a Navy SEAL, he earned two Bronze Star Medals, the Purple Heart, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with valor. He medically retired from military service in 2016

After military service, he went on to obtain a Masters degree in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in 2018. During that time he also worked as a legislative assistant for Texas Congressman Pete Sessions.

Crenshaw began his campaign in November of 2017 and had to survive a contentious runoff election in the Republican primary. However, the most interesting incident of the campaign happened just prior to the general election in November of 2018.

Comedian Pete Davidson made a mocking remark about Crenshaw as a joke on the November 3, 2018 episode of Saturday Night Live. The public disapproval of that joke has been credited by some as helping Crenshaw secure victory in the election the following Tuesday.

However, what happened the following Saturday on SNL was remarkable.

Davidson’s sincere apology for his remarks the week before and Crenshaw’s good-natured acceptance of the apology was a refreshing look at the character of both. Moreover, it was an impressive first appearance on the national scene for the newly-elected Representative.

Political Positions

The political positions of AOC and Crenshaw could hardly be farther apart. Ocasio-Cortez is extreme Left-wing Socialist, while Crenshaw is a solidly Conservative Republican.

AOCThe greatest example of AOC’s political aspirations is the now infamous Green New Deal. Her surprising influence in less than 3 months has gathered support for the GND from every declared Democrat candidate for President in 2020.

The most recent estimated cost of that Socialist nightmare was 93 trillion dollars! However, the inconceivable amount has not deterred AOC or her minions.

AOC is also a proponent of abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and basically an open borders status for America.

As might be expected, Crenshaw opposes the ‘Green Dream.’ He has ably stated the reasonable objections to it in many forums.

However, there are some far less publicized positions that Dan Crenshaw has put forth which deserve attention for a fair comparison between the Texas Republican and AOC.

Crenshaw was joined by two other Representatives back in January of this year in proposing a bill to withhold the salaries of Congress, the Vice President, and the President in the event of a government shutdown. Crenshaw stated at the time,

Federal employees should never have to carry the burden caused by a dysfunctional government, …We should have to feel the very real effects of a shutdown, just as our fellow federal employees are forced to do.

Concerning that same issue, Crenshaw also revealed something the Mainstream media, umm… had skipped over.

Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw reported on Twitter that Republicans had a plan to pay federal workers during the shutdown. But that proposal did not pass because all but 6 Democrats voted against it.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw

Big deal that never got reported:

Last week, House GOP voted to pay federal employees their 1st paycheck of 2019, despite shutdown. Only 6 Dems voted with us. It failed.

Dem priority is not paying workers or opening gov’t. It is opposing Trump.

59.9K people are talking about this

Border wallThis was while the shutdown was happening. Employees could have received pay during the shutdown itself if this had passed. It will be interesting to see at election time if federal workers remember which party had their backs during the shutdown, and which did not.

Rep. Crenshaw is also a vocal supporter of border security, including a physical barrier aka a ‘border wall,’ and an advocate of President Trump’s National Emergency Declaration.

Public Presence

One factor remains to conclude this assessment. That is the factor of public presence.

Presence refers to the public persona of each person. As national public officials, a large portion of their lives is now subject to media scrutiny. In today’s society, this means the scrutiny of social media, as well as TV and radio coverage.

For example, AOC was recently questioned about real concerns with probable ethics violations and ‘laundering’ or ‘funneling’ money to her boyfriend, through her campaign manager. The violation involved her campaign manager, Saikat Chakrabarti, using a Political Action Committee’s funds to pay AOC’s boyfriend thousands of dollars.

The campaign manager and AOC herself said the boyfriend was not on staff [even though her office had listed him as staff] and the payments were not unethical. However, it was found that the boyfriend also was given a House e-mail account, which the rules state is wrong unless he is actually part of the staff.

AOC and Ben CrenshawAOC’s excuse was that her boyfriend needed a email account to have access to her Congressional calendar. Hmm …guess she forgot how to text him about her schedule.

Moreover, she seems to want to be excused from media attention towards her personal life.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fired off a tweet suggesting that the media unfairly target her family and love life in their reporting – and I can’t stop laughing. Here’s the tweet:

You know, when I got to DC I was told that it’s considered “off limits” to report on a member’s family, love life, etc. Unsure why that consideration is suspended for me. (Also for those who ask how I learned to handle pressure, try being the only daughter in a Latino household)

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) March 5, 2019

AOC has apparently not been paying attention to media coverage of late. Especially the mainstream media’s metaphoric ‘body-cavity search’ and automatic condemnation of any family member of President Trump’s household, including his young son, Barron.

How does Rep. Crenshaw present himself in light of media attention? We have already seen the very classy way he responded to Saturday Night Live’s mockery.

Here is another reaction by Crenshaw decrying the Leftmedia, but not for anything targeting him. Instead, he speaks out about the anti-Christian bias of the MSM.

Dan Crenshaw

Media blunders this week:
-hardly any coverage of #MarchforLife
-Buzzfeed lies about Cohen case
-slandering Covington Catholic students over false narrative
-slandering Karen Pence for working at Christian school

3 out of 4 are fundamentally anti-Christian. Just last 7 days.

The Texas Congressman recently appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” and calmly dismantled the hyperbole of the media attacks on President Trump. In response to the leftist claim that Trump is attacking freedom of the press, Crenshaw replied,

How has he done that? The Obama administration had many press members under investigation, Trump has not, so what is the difference here?

Crenshaw is 100% correct about Obama. He actually tried squashing freedom of the press with everything from seizing records to covert surveillance of reporters he didn’t like.

All Trump has done is briefly expel an obnoxious reporter who hogged the microphone from the privileged seat at the White House press briefings. Oh yeah, and he has called the Leftmedia names.

Much remains to be seen concerning both AOC and Crenshaw and their performance as ‘newbies’ in the House. Moreover, since they are both considered rising stars in their respective political circles, they will also be targeted, fairly or not, as defining the policies of their Party.

This analysis is not definitive by any stretch of the imagination. Yet, it can be instructive as to which person is best suited to the role of U.S. Representative that both are occupying now.

In that light, my hope is that we will see more of the likes of Rep. Crenshaw and far less of the likes of AOC in Congress. However, I am not making that prediction, and I’m not holding my breath waiting for it to happen.

I also hope and pray that all who would govern would desire the same as Solomon did from God when he became the King of Israel.

Give your servant, therefore, an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people? 1 Kings 3:9 [ESV]

Which Is the Real Crisis for America? [Video]

In recent weeks the political landscape of America has been imbued with talk of a “crisis” of one type or another. On the one hand, there is the crisis on the southern border, as President Trump and the sensible among the GOP claim.

On the other hand, there is the crisis of “climate change,” championed by the new extreme Left of the Democratic Congress. Which of these claims holds up under investigation of the facts?

Just what is the real crisis for America? To parrot an ancient TV game show, “Will the Real Crisis Please Stand Up?”

Examining the ‘Climate Change’ Crisis Claim

Climate changeThe newest offering wholeheartedly embraced by just about every Democrat running for the 2020 presidential nomination is the so-called ‘Green New Deal.‘ This Socialistic monstrosity is offered in response to what is uniformly mimicked on the Left as an “existential crisis” which will end the planet in a decade.

However, as this journal and a multitude of others have repeatedly shown, “climate change” is unproven as a fact, or as a real threat. It is essentially a hoax designed to enrich its supporters with zero evidence to support the theory.

To be clear, yes, the climate is changing now. It has changed from yesterday and will change to a different climate tomorrow.

The climate all around the globe changes constantly and has done so since the planet came to exist. There is a special name for that phenomenon; it’s called “weather.”

The panic has been renewed with a vengeance by new congressional Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her supporters on Capitol Hill. The threat is said to be both real and immediate so that we have but 10 years to reign it in.

If that were true, then there would be a “catastrophic” crisis facing humanity which deserved our attention. However, the truth reveals no real crisis exists.

The lengths of deception that “climate change” advocates will attempt shows some very strong motivation on their part. The motivation for a few acolytes of the cult is their blind faith that “climate change” is both man-caused and destructive to the existence of human life on earth.

For others on the Left, “climate change” is about self-aggrandizement with both money and power. For those people, the welfare of the planet is the least of their concerns.

Those among the Left who wish to enrich themselves monetarily are the “scientists,” who grab a large portion of around $2 billion in public funding. They receive the preferred government grants for their projects in only if the ‘climate change’ mantra is followed.

There are others on the political Left and their supporters whose greatest concern is gaining power through the “climate change” fraud. Their wish is to transform America into a Socialist regime with them at the helm.

Investigating the ‘Border Crisis’ Claim

Border CrisisThe other national crisis claim is far more specific and has real evidence to support its contentions. The crisis on the southern border is specific in location and threat.

The threat is no less than that of an enemy invasion of the nation. The sheer numbers involved are ample evidence of the accuracy of this assertion.

Moreover, the fact that multiple waves of “immigrant caravans” keep coming toward the southern border in the thousands shows this is an invasion. Another “caravan” of potential illegal aliens is headed toward the border at this moment, and it is reported to be the largest contingent so far.

The last encounter with such a flood of people trying to illegally enter the United States was revealing.

The behavior of the first “caravan” illustrates that those who have claimed the situation at the border is a “manufactured crisis,” have no clue what they are talking about. Here is some data from the Department of Homeland Security about the composition of that attempt to break into the United States.

Department of Homeland Security officials report that nearly 300 members of the migrant caravans en route to the U.S. at this time are either convicted criminals or known gang members. The criminals include individuals with convictions for sexual assault on a child, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, and assault on a female, officials reported.

Moreover, the invaders are not simply coming from Mexico or Central America. There are many from other nations that may not be so kindly disposed to America and her citizens.

Mexican officials have also publicly stated that criminal groups have infiltrated the caravan. We also continue to see individuals from over 20 countries in this flow from countries such as Somalia, India, Haiti, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

Add to this the situations Americans have to deal with concerning ‘sanctuary cities,’ such as San Francisco and whole ‘sanctuary states’ like California. Many of the people they protect from those horrible Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, officers, have been deported multiple times and go on to commit heinous crimes, including murder.

Then there is the rampant gang violence associated with large gangs such as MS13. They are at the forefront of terrorizing whole communities with the horrific acts they perpetuate.

MS13 was organized in Los Angeles during the 1080s by illegal aliens from El Salvador.

It has expanded since to include Hondurans, Guatemalans, Mexicans and other Central and South Americans. MS-13’s motto is “mata, viola, controla” – which means “kill, rape, control,” according to Robert Hur, an official with the Justice Department. …They seek to live up to this motto through truly shocking acts of violence designed to instill fear: vicious machete attacks, execution-style gunshots, gang rape and human trafficking.”

MS 13The current ‘caravans’ are coming from those countries where MS13 is much larger and more powerful than the numbers in America at present. The aim of those who are gang members from south of the border is to swell their ranks in this country and spread lawlessness and violence.

This brief assessment of the immigration crisis doesn’t include the problems of human trafficking and the flood of dangerous drugs from the cartels which lax border enforcement and the lack of a wall enable. Those two alone would constitute a humanitarian crisis which desperately needs attention.

The Real Crisis Is Not Being Addressed Adequately

It is evident that the actual crisis is occurring with America’s illegal immigration invasion, not in the mythical claims of ‘climate change’ watermelon [i.e. ‘green on the outside and red on the inside’] politicians. It is also evident that with few exceptions, the only political person concerned with addressing the immigration crisis is President Trump.

The policy that garners the greatest attention is, of course, the promised border wall to help curb the invasion of illegals. This is a gigantic step which is very needed and will reap significant benefits, however, a physical barrier is only a piece of the necessary solution.

President Trump has called for increased law enforcement personnel and additional technology to help halt the border crisis. These measures would be an enormous help, but the congressional response from the Left, and in part from disgruntled GOPers, has been to ignore the problem.

Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, the president announced that he would be officially declaring an emergency on the border, along with signing a woefully inadequate spending bill that provides about 1.4 billion for the wall. This declaration will be challenged in court, as the president noted, but he also says it needed to be done anyway, in order to secure some wall funding.

The president received anemic support from the timid Republicans for immigration reform and a wall in the first two years of his term, and during the recent government shutdown. Those considerations may have led to the reluctant signing of the spending bill, especially since its provisions further enable illegal immigrants to take greater advantage of the asylum laws in America.

The continued weakness in our laws that grant asylum to the United States is not addressed in the spending bill. That is, in my opinion, a terrible mistake which will exacerbate the problems of the immigration crisis.

Currently, the law allows automatic legal status as an asylum-seeker if the immigrant party claims a “credible fear” from their home country and they have made it onto U.S. soil. This creates a huge problem because each person granted such status has to have it adjudicated for authenticity.

Illegal ImmigrationThus, the asylum-seeker is given a document with a court date, months in the future, at which they are to appear for an asylum hearing. Over 90% of those people do not show up for their day in court and are at that time no longer asylum-seekers, but illegal aliens.

These people then come under the jurisdiction of ICE. Those who can be caught are held in ICE detention centers around the country.

Mark Morgan, the former head of the Border Patrol under the Obama administration, gave some startling statistics on the ICE detention situation as it presently stands. While being interviewed on “The Buck Sexton Show” podcast of Feb. 13, Morgan said,

Right now ICE has 49,000 people in detention. 87% of them have been convicted of a crime, or charged with a crime, or are a suspected gang member.

As Sexton points out, overwhelmingly these are people charged with crimes in addition to their status as an illegal alien. Remember, they are just those who have been caught and detained, and there is no real way to account for the others who are shielded by sanctuary policies or simply disappear into the population.

President Trump cannot change the current asylum laws by executive authority, but he is trying to do what he legally can accomplish. It is long past time the Congress, especially the Democrats, honored their previous pledges and votes for real border security including a physical barrier, and to fix the inadequate laws concerning asylum-seekers.

Contrary to the rantings of Ocasio-Cortez and her compatriots, there is no inherent human right to come to the United States. Moreover, her claims that no one of Latin descent should be refused entry to America because they are descendants of native peoples are ignorant of the Constitution and history.

Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive against them. Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it completely.  Proverbs 28:4-5 [ESV]

President Trump Challenges the Left on Immigration [Video]

Border Wall

President Trump challenged the Left on his address to the nation Tuesday evening, January 8, 2019. The actual words were addressed to the American people and Democrats in Congress, but the challenge is directed to the Left.

Trump’s challenge is twofold. A challenge to recognize the danger and respond to the crisis at the border.

How was this spoken to the Left? The Democratic party is now completely subservient to the Leftist agenda swept in by the 2018 mid-term elections.

Recognize the Danger of Illegal Entry

The southern border of the United States has been a conduit for dangerous activity for many decades. This danger comes in various forms from the threat of terrorists crossing to human trafficking to the deadly drugs heroin and fentanyl.

Border Wall

The President highlighted these dangers in his speech including the stories of people such as California Patrol Officer Ronil Singh. He was shot and killed by an illegal alien, Gustavo Perez Arriaga.

A tragic irony of this case was that Singh was a legal immigrant who had recently become a citizen. The Stanislaus County Sheriff noted that he believed strongly this could have been prevented.

As for whether Singh’s death was preventable, Christianson noted that had law enforcement previously been able to report the suspect to Immigration and Customs Enforcement because of his criminal record, the loss of life might never have occurred. …under SB54 in California, based on two arrests for DUI and some other active warrants that this criminal has out there, law enforcement would’ve been prevented, prohibited from sharing any information with ICE about this criminal gang member. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not how you protect a community.”

Sheriff Christianson is right. President Trump took to the airwaves to inform the public about the need for border security that includes a physical barrier.

Moreover, he sought to open the hearts and minds of his opponents in Congress. He noted the hypocrisy of the Democratic leadership who had voted to fund a wall in the recent past but now opposed it simply because it was this president proposing it.

He pled with them to do the right thing, to respond with the best interest and safety of the American people first, as it should be. They should not only recognize the danger but work to respond to this crisis in defense of this nation they are sworn to protect.

Respond to the Immigration Crisis

Border Wall

President Trump’s response has been clear from day one. He wants a real physical barrier at the border as well as more border agents and any technological means available to solve the crisis at the southern border.

As he showed in his statement, the president is willing to treat the situation as a true crisis that threatens national security. So much so that the government “shutdown” will continue until this threat is handled adequately.

The president called on the Congressional Democrats to join him is addressing the border crisis. The sad truth is that the Democrats are not interested in either recognizing or responding to the reality.

The only responses given so far are verbal nonsense combined with insults toward both Trump and his supporters. However, this has not always been the case.

As the president mentioned, a large majority of Democrats voted to provide funding for physical barriers in 2006. The Secure Fence Act became law then, however, it has yet to be fully funded.

The Democrat response to the speech is being almost universally mocked on social media. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and minority leader Senator Chuck Schumer produced a response so bad that former Clinton advisor James Carville said,

They could have given the Gettysburg Address and it wouldn’t have mattered.

However, one phrase used by Schumer has gained some attention. He called the situation at the border, “a manufactured crisis.”

The implication is that President Trump created a crisis which didn’t exist. While this is what the Left wants to hear and repeat, it is untrue.

Yet, in one way, Schumer is correct. The crisis today is real and growing, but it was also ‘manufactured.’

The manufacture of this crisis began in 1986 when the Left hoodwinked President Ronald Reagan. He agreed to a limited amnesty for illegals in exchange for real border security.

I think there’s a lot of blame to go around and spread around for decades,” said Mark Krikorian, executive director for the conservative Center For Immigration Studies. “There isn’t one person responsible.” Instead, he said, the problem lies in how the Immigration Control and Reform Act of 1986 was implemented. He described the passage of the bill as something of a “con-job” that allowed millions of immigrants in the country illegally to have legal status with a promise of workplace enforcement and other measures to curb future illegal immigration. But that didn’t happen, he said. And there was little incentive to follow through on promises of strict workplace enforcement, he said, once millions of people were legalized.

Thus began the illegal immigration woes we have today. As has been the case with every measure since the amnesty gets granted but enforcement of measures to curb illegal entry never happens.

The Left Controls the Democrats

Border Wall

The new rising star of the Democrats universe is New York representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She is a committed Socialist whose left-wing radicalism is being embraced by the party.

Her position on the southern border crisis in the recent past has been to call for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement altogether. She believes the only immigration ‘crisis’ is that America doesn’t let everyone into the country, that is, she favors open borders.

Moreover, AOC went even further when she was interviewed on MSNBC. She advocated the abolishment of Border Patrol and that the Trump administration should get no funding for border security because it had committed human rights violations.

Yet those were not the most outrageous of her statements. She also claimed that illegal migrants were more of an American than legal citizens.

In the actual address, there was falsehood after falsehood and we have to make sure that we get our facts straight. Everyday immigrants commit crimes at a far lower rate than native-born Americans …the women and children on the border seeking refuge and opportunity in the U.S. with nothing but the shirt on their backs are acting more American than any person who seeks to keep them out ever will be.

Notice that AOC conflated illegal and legal immigrants in her statement, as leftists routinely do. It was false to claim that Trump said “immigrants” when he specifically stressed the illegality of their status.

It was inaccurate, idiotic, and insulting for her to claim illegals were somehow more American than citizens. Moreover, did AOC realize she was also disparaging legal immigrants who have become citizens with her words?

The Left’s message to the legal immigrant seems to be “we have no concern for you who obey the law and respect the mantle of ‘American citizen.’ ”

That is the view representing the Socialist wing of the Democratic party, and they are in the ascendency. AOC herself has been hailed as the future of the party, and she is as Leftist as they get.

She finds a home in Congress alongside Democrats “Mad” Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris, and Cory “Spartacus” Booker. Moreover, they only represent a much larger number which grew in 2018.

The one proposal of “Medicare for all” would be the second most expensive program ever attempted by the United States. The only one more costly would be the “Green New Deal” program championed by, you guessed it, AOC herself.

Border Wall

As an aside, AOC’s claim that the president’s speech was riddled with falsehoods is itself false. Much like the other leftist outlets so-called “fact-checks” of Trump’s speech.

Make no mistake, the Left is the controlling influence among Democrats today. Trump’s challenge is aimed directly at them and we can be thankful for that.

This speech will continue to force the Left to reveal their Socialist agenda to America at large. Open borders advances that agenda with a steady stream of people dependant on the welfare state.

The increase of illegal aliens along with the push to give them voting rights combine to provide a ready-made voting block for the Left. While this may help leftist Democrats gain a stranglehold on political power, it ignores the demonstrable damage Socialism would inflect upon America.

Trump’s challenge to the Left also presents an opportunity for conservatives to stand with him and against the virulent Left. Perhaps even a chance to finally see a secure border and the beginning of the end of a true national crisis.

Wisdom calls out in the street, she shouts loudly in the plazas; at the head of the noisy streets she calls, in the entrances of the gates in the city she utters her words: “How long will you simpletons love naivete? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?” Proverbs 1:20-22 NET
