Virus and Violence to Victory

Rampant corruption runs deep in our country. We hide in our homes and pray things will get better. Virus, violence, and victory… which one do you stand for?

Corruption and undermining good intentions have progressed as long as life has existed. We can start with Cain and Abel, where hate and greed dominated the soul of a brother. But bigger than this was the man who walked with Jesus named Judas. He betrayed Jesus and sold His soul for thirty pieces of silver.

What’s new today is not new at all because it’s just another viral wave of interruptions. Many people try to ward off the godly intentions of men. Through the course of history, our founding fathers fought feverishly for our freedom. A hundred years later, civil wars brought unrest, and thousands died at the hands of the enemy. Years later, we fought to protect what man deemed worthy of God’s protection.

Today, we watch another wave of hatred. It is still the men who give their sweat defending humanity’s rights from viruses and violence, so we may once again live in victory. Every war had viruses that plagued soldiers. “Agent Orange,” I remember, was the disease that killed so many of my friends who served in Vietnam. Now, COVID 19 is as viral as any war ever seen on our land. It can be said the virus and violence running through the veins of our precious country is just another attack to hinder our sweat equity.

Victory is the vibrant whispers of standing together, believing in one God, and going home to a place of peace, as our Lord Jesus promises us. No viruses or violence will be… just the sweet triumph of living where evil is not permitted behind the gates of Heaven.

I lost a talented friend and follower this week. He stood for the men who wore their sweat on their brow and was the greatest fiddle player in the world, Charlie Daniels. He gave his life to be with Christ while hoping he made this world a better home for America. I hope a comrade, a soldier, or a statue will stand in honor of this good man’s memory. God graced us with his presence. We should all be blessed to call him “friend.”

From virus to victory and all the violence we’ve endured, let us praise God for our strength, for we are stronger in numbers. No virus can claim where eternity prevails! Jesus paid our debt to be free from the sins of the world and non- believers. Rise, my friends! Our Redeemer lives graciously in our hearts and homes.

Virus and violence (is there a difference??) have no home in our hearts or home when we live in victory with Jesus. Praise God, won’t you? For it is He glowing our bright light. Listen to the lyrics, the sweet sounds of victory for God is about to bring us all home.

A Psalm of David (Psalm 108: 1-6; 12-13)

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make melody.

    Awake, my soul!

Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn.

I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to you among the nations.

For your steadfast love is higher than the heavens, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.

Give victory with your right hand, and answer me, so that those whom you love may be rescued.

O grant us help against the foe, for human help is worthless. With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.

Recognizing Humanity

As appalling current events unravel before our very eyes, an underlying message lies deep between the lines of the newspapers and social media posts. Christians must understand we need to stand up, today, for the Lord and His written Word. Be followers of Jesus, or live in the sinful realm of Satan!

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.  1 John 3:7

Are all people not created equal? Did God make one race superior over another? No! He made each person unique in His own light, and an “image of Him.” So, why is there a need for racism?

My first thought in recognizing humanity is the word equality. It engulfs the notion that every person, regardless of religion, race, or gender, has the same rights. I believe this to be true, but many in the United States have a tough time putting it into practice. I think the issue is not about equality, but a varying difference of opinions. Let me give you an example…

In today’s times, the Jews often dispute “the image of God.” They feel strongly that God was referring only to Israel’s nation, for they abide more so by the Old Testament than Christians. The problem with this is God didn’t create people to be more valuable than others, nor more deserving of His love than others.

We must come to grips with the fact that humanity will either accept God’s Word or not and live a life worthy of God. It is an individual choice – one which will be personally answered to before the Lord.

I find the greatest country on earth, oddly enough, is spreading the most immature behavior. Americans are like a box of crayons standing collectively inside a little cardboard box. Our colors bring vibrancy to creativity, yet the mean-spirited are determined to break us in half, creating separation through social justice. We each bring gifts and talents to the table, and all skin colors and religions are equal in the worth that God has given them.

My goodness! Isn’t it time to come together? Yes, I’m aware Satan has control over many; but it shouldn’t deter the rest of our communities from acknowledging the self-worth of man.

In the spirit of recognizing humanity, let us attend church regularly instead of rioting. If you want equality, then put God first. Yes, let’s recognize humanity! Instead of rioting and judging others for their race and religion, let us go to church on Sunday morning and ask for forgiveness. Pray for the lost that they may find solace in the Lord.

It is Satan’s unending motive to disenfranchise us from God, so why are we empowering him? The discrimination of racism begins in the heart, so give it to God! I ask you to recognize humanity for what it is – the Lord’s beautiful creations… born with many differences.

The best days are ahead

Things are not fully fine
But they are better;
Nothing is yet certain,
But we are surer;
The sky is still full of
Black clouds,
But rain seems far away;
The night is still dark,
Yet, we are finding our way;
But it’s not our doing;
It’s the Almighty God;
We are still far from what
Our heart desires,
But much closer than ever;
Our spirits aren’t yet flying,
But are up and getting ready;
There’s reason to be happy;
Who could see this coming?
It seemed so farfetched;
The future was so bleak;
But with rays of sunshine
In the horizon,
At the end of the tunnel;
We can only thank God,
The almighty Architect;
Hope, there is,
That the best days are coming;
The best days are ahead.

Life Is a Sherbet Sky

In our hurried day, we rarely capture the time to examine life. We have appointments to keep, bills to pay… a constant hustling from dawn to dusk. But I love to watch a campfire glowing as evening arrives over the treetops. The dark of night glows a sherbet sky. The silhouette of the trees makes a perfect outline against the impending darkness.

I thank God for my beautiful life, though sometimes it’s been tough. Having scuffles with Satan trying to alter my direction, I always seem to return to my point of center. I wish everyone knew God is the center of life.

Every day it seems a calamity of things needs changing in our world. In my prayerful mind, I know God reigns control of events. Life remains so viable… a splendorous touch between myself and the Holy Spirit. Some say it’s paranormal, but being one with my Maker is a resounding joy. I cherish the majestic evenings when I can sit outside and enjoy the fruits of my endeavors!

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Matthew 6:33

We often take life for granted until God teaches us its worth. Within a kiss, a hug, or maybe a sherbet sky, lie those precious, irreplaceable moments. All those family members who we wish were closer, or still, with us, are times gone forever. We’ve paved our road to the heavenly Father.

Life… what beautiful memories and a wonderful dream! The sherbet sky fills the imagination as God gives all mankind the right to survive in His name. Our almighty Lord and Creator is life. Never doubt or deny His existence, for, without Him, life on earth would be a black hole.

Praise God on this day for the sun rises, shining on our daily dreams. As sure as He exists, it will set tonight, and the heavens will look like the break of dawn. Life is a beautiful sherbet sky when the Lord and I can share it with you.

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20 (NIV)

God bless all our readers, followers, and friends!

The Optimist

There is a story of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist. “Everything is coming up roses!” he would say. The other twin was a sad and hopeless pessimist. He thought that Murphy, as in Murphy’s Law, was an optimist. The worried parents of the boys brought them to the local psychologist.

The parents followed these instructions and carefully observed the results. When they peeked in on the pessimist, they heard him audibly complaining,

I don’t like the color of this computer… I’ll bet this calculator will break… I don’t like the game… I know someone who’s got a bigger toy car than this.

Tiptoeing across the corridor, the parents peeked in and saw their little optimist gleefully throwing the manure up in the air. He was giggling.

You can’t fool me! Where there’s this much manure, there’s gotta be a pony!

Moral of the story: Always expect something good to happen!

Many thanks for stopping by, till I come your way again..

The Pendulum Swings

I walked into an old clocksmith store, and I could hear the tick-tock movements of the pendulums. The walls were dark and aging plaster cracks appeared everywhere. The timber moaned that supported the weathered wood floor. Time never stops as the pendulum swings.

A frail elderly man heard me enter, and he scurried out from behind a lint-covered curtain. I wanted to run as my pores turned clammy. It was time to turn the thoughts of the past behind me. We started a dialog. Time grabbed my hands, and I was held in the bondage of yesterday’s movement.

Life is deeply portrayed by the movement of the inner workings of a clock. The gears continue to spin while God watches everything. So patiently, we wait for His perfect timing.

The tarnished faces of the clocks stared at each other. Their sounds mesmerized me. Feeling very minute, the store surrounded my every thought. I came to exchange a gift, but perhaps I’ll leave well enough alone.

And so life around me aggressively consumed my soul. The sounds of the pendulums resembled the printing presses of time. The clocks stamped out the worn-out news. Bewildered, I was frozen in time. I stood still on the uneven floor while… the pendulum swings.

Metaphorically, God is situated similarly within our souls. Just as the ticking clocks in the old store, we are standing face to face with our Maker. Even amidst His peace, our spirit is out of sync. Everyone has a choice and burying our heads will not stop time. All God’s children have an inborn clock, and soon we must realize the pendulum still swings.

Radical events surround my thoughts as the old floors are creaking where we walk today. Riot gear may protect our skin, but nothing protects our spirit. They leave us to wonder while… the pendulum still swings.

Our Lord, the old clock man Himself, determines our destiny with His watchful eyes. Hearts and minds break as we read and listen to the media’s deceitful lies, which do little to comfort our soul. It’s only God who will make the sun to rise again. The pendulum will still swing… bringing a new life.

The Fear of God

The Bible reveals that the beginning of wisdom and knowledge is the fear of God. But this phrase, “fear of God,” has become a bit of a misnomer. The word fear denotes afraid of or threatening. So many unbelievers, today, view acknowledging a higher power is a threat to their freedom. As a result, they live in darkness with the shades drawn, blinded to the evil surrounding them. Christians understand the fear of God means standing in awesome respect of His power and majesty.

In Exodus 19:17-19, God wanted the Israelites to understand He was real and powerful. So, He asked Moses to lead them to the foot of Mount Sinai, and this event occurred…

“Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.  Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, the whole mountain trembled violently, and the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder. Then Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.”

If we read the scriptures just before Exodus’ verse 17, we discover the Israelites knew several days in advance they would experience God. Most of the people laughed it off and thought Moses was a joke. But as predicted, God terrified them when they witnessed His presence on Mount Sinai. The Lord speaks of fearing Him in the Bible to stop sinning, not because He is a cruel god. He wants us to understand we should run to Him when our enemies approach us.

Moving ahead thousands of years later, what attitudes have changed today about God since Mount Sinai? Did mankind learn anything from the Israelites? My opinion is the world’s lack of faith has steeply declined, and the fear of God is nonexistent. People are unbalanced in their understanding of the Lord. They’re naïve, or perhaps uneducated, so they follow the weakest link on earth – Satan.

God is sending many signals to the world today of His power – pandemics, earthquakes, and other catastrophes. Still, many continue to ignore His signs. Just as the Israelites, they, too, will cower in fear when He returns and it will be too late.

Mentioned 365 times in the Bible, one would say the fear of God proves a point: it is time to adhere to God’s commands and not your own decisions. Take delight in fearing the Lord so you can walk in obedience and have the joy of a clean heart. It builds confidence for the judgment day, arriving soon. Fear of discipline helps us not to make mistakes. As we obey Christ, we remain in His love, and His joy will be forever in us.

The fear of God, and respecting His almighty presence, will build your eternal salvation. God bless you!

“They shall be My people, and I will be their God; then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.”  Jeremiah 32:38-40

Send in the Doves

I took a reprieve from yard manicuring and sipped on a glass of tea. Without warning, three doves flew down to join me and fed on the seed my love scattered about the ground the previous day. They were only a few feet from my chair. Amazed and with exuberance, I surmised there must be a message in their trusting action. Am I being watched, I wondered? Is my every move being noted and written down for judgment day?

In scriptures, the dove is often used to represent aspects of God’s spirit, instructing our lives. It is a symbol of peace, but it held much more significance, for it affirmed Jesus as the Messiah. As John baptized Jesus, the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in bodily form like a dove – the anointing of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, other heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; Matthew 3:16

Also, Noah experienced a connection with these birds. Following the Flood, he sent out a dove. It flew out over the sea but then returned to the ark. Noah waited a week before he left it go again. This time…

“…the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth.” Genesis 8:11

The third time Noah sent out a dove, it did not return, revealing the dove had found a new home on the land of the earth. The message here? God had made peace with the earth and mankind.

The Lord held doves in greatness. One biblical event describes Jesus angrily driving out all the merchants from the Temple, including “those who sold doves” to worshipers (John 2:16). The happiest of birds, it identifies and represents divinity and purity, as Jesus acknowledged by His anger.

So, do you think God sends in the doves to confirm our faithfulness or as a subliminal sign He is near? It’s easy to comprehend because, after all,  signs from God are clear as the day is long.

I want to share a personal event in my life. I married my wife on a beach in Destin, Florida. Standing on a platform next to the tall grasses and sand dunes, we recited our sacred vows. At the exact moment the Justice of Peace declared us man and wife, three doves flew out of the grass and over our heads. We will never forget it!

At first, we believed it was our deceased parents showing their approval, but now we view it differently – it was the Lord! To this day, His abundant blessings affect our life.

So, Lord, send in the doves! I built my sanctuary in honor of You. It gives me the strength for all things of which I can do to serve You better. I keep one eye on my blessings and the other on Your arrival. Standing like a soldier, I shall remain in prayer and feeding the doves You sent to watch over me this morning.

I love the days I can share Christ with all my readers. So many seeks the Lord, but He joins me in my daily thoughts. Call on our Lord, and He will send doves your way if you just have faith and pray.  What a merciful Father, don’t you agree?

Send in the doves, Lord, and baptize us with powerful wings and life ever after.

A Day of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer. The United States Congress asks people “to turn to God in prayer and meditation.” Though praying should be an everyday occurrence in our homes, on this day, many faiths will take part in the annual event. Rev. Billy Graham initiated this day in 1952, so please join me in prayer.

Dear Lord,

Our Father in Heaven, we come together in humility, asking you to bring salvation to all those who are in prayer today.

Please guide our clergy, missionaries, and others blessed to spread Your Word. Comfort the souls with broken spirits and cast out the germs that try to infiltrate their hearts. Many walk our land with little or no faith, and they desperately need led to Your spiritual being before leaving this life.

Lord, lead us to the still waters and green ferns during this tumultuous time of upheavals around the world. We pray for the safety, and immeasurable responsibilities of our leader, President Donald Trump. Father, please endow him with Your wisdom and comforting arms. Speak to all the members of our congress and other political positions. Guide them to make better decisions based on the country’s needs and not their own. Help America to once again come together in unity.

Many families have suffered job losses and deaths because of COVID-19. Lord bless them with Your peace and reassure their souls. Keep us healthy and shield us from harm, Lord.

We pray, Father, for the churches in America to unify under Jesus Christ’s name. Help us see all religions in the cross’s light. We pray to be more humble, gentle, and patient with one another. Bless us, Lord, with the unity of the Holy Spirit through the bond of peace.

Lord, please be our shepherd! Jesus Christ is the Only Savior, and our only hope in this world.

Amen
