A Representative of Christ

Everyone comes into life to serve a great purpose. That is our destiny. We extend a hand in life to help the broken, but it’s Christ who chooses the believers He wants to represent Him. Faith is a large part of the commitment, but it’s the renewed spirit which Christ blesses each time. I, too, am not worthy to wipe the dust from our Father’s holy feet, but for an unknown reason, God duly elected me. I am a representative of Christ, an emissary, an evangelist of His word. But, I was the man most people least suspected to be His ambassador. This is how God works among humanity. He selects the defeated, renews their heart and mind, and sends them into the world as a witness of His great love.

My heart filled with emotions, and it danced with a joy I didn’t think was possible. All I could do was reverently thank God for the opportunities He opened up before my eyes. It’s a select few picked to serve our Lord on a greater platform, representing Him in the interim of His great return. Yes, this includes ministers, pastors, priests, missionaries, and then just the ordinary… like me.

Do you know how Christ chooses who will live in His shadow as disciples? Millions live in a holy relationship with the Lord, but a genuine disciple usually is considered a social outcast. They have a more profound knowledge of God and wisdom; perhaps a miraculous incident occurred with Him. Often, they are rejected by family and friends and considered “weird” or a false prophet. Demon possessed people react strongly to them, and immature Christians spew insulting comments their direction. Disciples, or anointed chosen followers, stand alone in a mocking world. I’ve experienced all of these things, but with God by my side, I endure all the accusations and criticisms, knowing He is my strength and power.

In the Bible, Jesus’ biological half brothers rejected Him and His ministry. King David was ridiculed for obeying and following the Lord. Isaac, the son of Abraham and Sarah, was born supernaturally for his parents were aged one hundred and ninety when he was conceived by God’s miracle. Moses was appointed at birth to represent God and was the target of terrible criticism from the Israelites and even his own brother and sister. Christ filled John the Baptist with the Holy Spirit before he was born. He was ultimately beheaded because no one believed Christ chose him. Not one person in scriptures chosen and anointed as a representative of Christ had an easy life. They had to set themselves apart, and I’m sure they felt very isolated.

So, today I ask, are you chosen by God to be His ambassador? Are you afraid to take a leap of faith for fear of rejection? Please read Psalm 91 as it is God’s promises to His chosen and anointed people:

God will reward the fruits of our accomplishments at the end. Pick up your staff and walk my friends. Be strong in your commitment, now more than ever as the world’s flocks of sheep are like a pack of wolves. They hungrily circle God’s chosen to wait for the perfect chance to ensnare and devour your devotion. Be not afraid to stand in the barley and dance in the shade. Christians, we were born to represent Christ Jesus.

FAITH 101

Faith is an interesting topic which I examined from many perspectives – atheism, Christians, and other religions. I’ve witnessed its results in many unexpected situations and outcomes. Faith, according to Hebrews 11:1, is “being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” We are born with the ability to have faith. But, for as many followers who trust in God, too many are non-believers or kinda/maybe believers. So I ask myself, how can I exploit the wonderful acts of God? How can I assure my readers God is real and lives inside every one of us? How can I teach you what I was taught about faith?

I could start with the physical proof of the Bible. Archeologists recently uncovered evidence of biblical stories such as the finding of the steps which led into the pool of Siloam and tombs in Nazareth. Technology is fantastic for it uncovers the truths of the Bible dating back to the beginning of time. But, unfortunately, doubters still block out the unearthing and go their merry way as doubters in a world of faith followers.

Pool of Siloam in the city of Jerusalem. It is here Jesus restored the eyesight of a man born blind.

What about unexplainable miracles which occur to many people? Accidents, where angel forms appear in pictures, happen all the time. Victims were unscathed and listed as a survivor. Then, my personal story is labeled miraculous by a minister. God instructed me ten years ago to get out of bed and write His messages. I was an undereducated carpenter who knew nothing about writing, and today I lead a blog with twenty million readers. God, like us, has a great sense of humor. Ok, many people do not believe in miracles either, but this phenomenon can create questions in the minds of non-believers.

Perhaps a better approach to explain the concept of faith to an unbeliever is by an example…

Have you ever experienced a backed-up septic system? You can’t call a repairman because it’s expensive, so you contemplate fixing the problem yourself using a different solution. At the local hardware store, the salesperson reaches for a box of “Rid-X” and tells you to follow the instructions. You hop in the car with the box sitting firmly next to you and think, “Man, I hope this works!” At bedtime, you pour it into the bowl and flush it twice, just as the instructions described on the label. Standing nervous over the “throne,” you say,  “LORD, PLEASE LET THIS WORK!” Oh, wait! I thought you didn’t believe in God? How can you call on God to help when you don’t believe in Him? If you are an agnostic or atheist, you just sinned against your own belief for you prayed to a higher power to help with an emergency.

How many times have you heard the expression, “just have faith, all will work out”? These words are an assurance of things we hope for but not yet received. Faith comes before answered prayer or before an individual has received what they requested from God. In sharp contrast, those who take for granted they don’t need a “God” in their life – look out! Christ is not a plumber, so stop praying to the wrong “throne”! Instead, find a friend who can guide you to a church where the plumbing is routed straight to heaven. At least you will not be misled by Satan’s evil sludge. Put God first, and it will surprise you how simple life is when He’s figured into the equation.

The basic theory of Faith 101 believes in God’s existence even though you cannot see Him. He designed it this way to distinguish between those who belong to Him and those who won’t, in death. If you have faith, God will reveal himself fully to you. His integrity is perfect.

I serve a mighty and awesome Lord, and I promise, through prayer, everything is fixable. The best policy to invest in for any homeowner is Faith 101. ~~www.danabicksauthor.com~~

A Place of Peace

Finally, a moment of peace! After another torrential storm, I adjusted the patio furniture to find comfort again. My mind was disheveled from life’s stresses, but nonetheless, the sun returned as promised. Land lovers watched the sailors set sail from a forbidden shore. The harbor bustled once again with joy, as finally, a quiet time for wayward voyagers to relax was on their horizon.

In the green, lush woods, God protected His wildlife which took refuge in the limbs of the trees and fallen trunks. Their domestic search was long and hard to find a place they called peace.

Where I wonder, is your place of peace?

Thinking back, my mother found her peace in gardening, and my dad was quick to hit the deck and launch his thoughts sailing the waters of Maryland. My beloved brother dropped the convertible top of his Austin Healey, filled the tank, and left for hours traveling to find his peace. I have close friends who wade out to their waist in streams and cast their spinners to find their catch of the day. Others find peace in hobbies or maybe an overstuffed recliner with their nose buried between pages. My wife and many others discover harmony with sand between their toes. Jesus found peace in His long walks through the desert sands.

Many Christians find a place of peace in our Father’s house. It might be in a pew or listening to the steeple bells as the choir sings a beautiful hymn. Tranquility and contentment exude God’s presence in a church. Bible verses also bring us peace such as in Philippians 4:6-7:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The place of peace in my personal life is with Christ. Just as another brother, He’s never far from reach be it on my porch, in my home, or even my heart. When I stroll along the shores holding my wife’s hand, I know He is taking her other. If we focus on God, peace is never far behind in our life.

The Lord created a wonderful world, both on land and at sea, but I believe heaven is in your heart and soul. The true route to peace is through Jesus Christ. So, unclutter your world and unclutter your mind by surrounding yourself in His love, mercy, and forgiveness. I promise you – there will be no greater reward! Find a quiet place today and pray for your place of peace.

The Ides of Suspicion

The ides of March are upon us and superstitions of March 15th run rampant across many nations. Thank you, Julius Caesar, for suggesting this as a bad luck day… or is it really superstitious? Senators assassinated this “dictator for life,” on the steps of the Curia of Pompey for in 44 B.C., Romans had no love for kings. Since Caesar’s death, March has a notorious history of haunting generation after generation, especially in the political arena.

The assassination of Julius Caesar

On March 15, 1917, Czar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate his throne just four days before the February Revolution in Russia. Also on this day in 1944, King Louis XV of France declared war on Britain. In the United States, ironically, our Pentagon Joint Chiefs of Staff appear to favor the month of March for military operations too. The US dispatched ground troops to Vietnam on March 8, 1965, starting the beginning of the Vietnam War. In fact, March 15, 1972, was considered one of the heaviest days of attacks during this conflict; the US destroyed a major North Vietnamese camp and thirty troops. The war on Iraq was launched on March 20, 2003. A covert war on Syria began March 15, 2011, while NATO began relentlessly bombing Libya just four days later. On the date of March 19, 2003, the United States launched an attack against Iraq to topple dictator Saddam Hussein from power.

Other significant non-war related incidents which occurred in March was the beating of Rodney King in Los Angeles on March 15, 1991; the Boston Massacre which began March 5, 1770, and Texas’s Fort Alamo fell to Mexican troops on March 6, 1836. Remember the stories of the Great Blizzard of 1888 which struck the northeastern United States? The storm happened on March 12th dumping over 40 inches of snow and causing four hundred deaths. As fate dictates for the ides of March, the newly elected President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest while walking toward his limousine in Washington, D.C. It was the 30th of March in 1981.

Proverbs 3:25-36

Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your feet from being snared.

Another oddity is some states will not hold elections on the 15th of March. But in a couple of weeks, on Super Tuesday, five states are having mid-term polls, now considered a “bad luck day” by both opponents.

The ides (division) of March – superstition or valid? I know superstitions are not based on a godly belief system. They are created by people embracing the supernatural. Only God is omniscient-all knowing. We are to be holy in our relationship with God, not falling into false beliefs and practices. Yes, it seems many nations, including the United States, has a history of horrible events which occurred in March; perhaps it’s just coincidental. Ultimately, our great Father is in control of all situations so let us pray for all our nations today.

Why God gives people power

Have you ever asked why God gives some people power?

By power, we are talking of political power, intellectual power, financial or economic power, physical power, language power, talent etc.

God gives people power for a divine purpose.

But when they fail in that divine mission, there is disaster.

He does not give you power so that you work against him.

He gives you power so that you work with him as a partner in creation; to take the world a step or steps towards its destiny.

And the destiny of the world is excellence – heaven; when good will overcome evil and everybody will enjoy.

If you use the power God gives you to promote evil instead of good, you are using it for the wrong purpose.

It means you are fighting against God instead of working with God.

That is an abomination; an abuse of power and also a waste of precious time; seeking your doom.

Such work does not yield positive fruits. It yields Negative fruits otherwise called evil.

Some one cannot arm you and you turn to use the very arms against him.

Often, people are deceived to think that people do this and get what they want; and go free.

They only appear to get what they want; and also only appear to go free. They don’t. The problem is we always see only one side of such people. They have a down side which makes them not as enviable as they look.

We have seen how people in high positions who abused their power paid dearly for it. That is the point.

If God blesses you with power of any sort, use it only for the glory of his name. You will be blessed.

If use it to work against Him, you will pay for.

Do you know some people who used their power to work against God’s plan for humanity and paid dearly for it? Please, share!

A Personal Thanksgiving Message…

My sanctuary is barren on this tranquil day for the winter cold has taken its toll on our summer blooms. But even so, it feels good to sit outside and reflect on another year almost gone.

It’s Thanksgiving, and I can’t think of a better time than right this minute to thank God for his many blessings. My eyes water; perhaps it’s the sunlight, or is it because I’m so humbled? This is not boastful, but reverently I will admit how great my life is since I gave it to the Lord.

My wife and I fought hard last year. No one would guess how far fifteen dollars an hour stretched when two people, so in love, pulled together. But, God knew, and that’s all that mattered.

This past year has had some difficulties too. First on the agenda was finding a new home – not here in the Midwest but on the East Coast instead. It could not be just any house but the one God intended for us. Then, we needed a new car. I’m afraid both our vehicles saw better days. Once again, God stepped in and arranged a deal of a lifetime.

If that were not enough miracles, my wife and love of my life, finished nine years of my writings. She developed them into my recent book, “There In God’s Grace” and made my narratives come alive, bless her heart. How do you ever thank God for this miracle?

So, I sit in the bright sunlight this morning and count my many blessings one by one. Another year of miracles is far beyond my expectations. Rest assuredly, I will say a “Thank you” grace at dinner tonight; thanking God foremost for the gifts, he bestowed us. Oh, we so appreciate our friends and family – some new, some gone, but it’s made us stronger every day.

In the new year, I’ll count the days until I do not have to work a job anymore. I’d much rather retire and enjoy my life with my sweetheart. Thanks so much to all of our acquaintances and followers for you, too, are part of what formed my miracle. I hope, in some little way, I will continue to help you build your own bond with our Father in heaven. God bless you this holiday and keep God first! Blessings will follow, I promise!

Talking about destiny

Who believes in destiny?
Do you believe in destiny?
Many believe in destinuy;
Many don’t believe in destiny;
Here, division reigns;
I believe in destiny;
This is my belief about destiny:
We each have many destinies;
Paths set out for us to choose from;
It’s like in a race,you find many tracks;
You are given a number of options
And you are free to choose from;
It is not just one option
That is open to you but many options;
You have the freedom to choose,
But you cannot go beyond the options
That your creator has earmarked for you
To choose from;
One of everybody’s destinies is failure;
Another is success;
Added to these two are other options
To choose from;
Some people have stardom
As one of their options;
Some people have talent;
Some people have family;
Some people have religious life;
Some have Ministry;
Some people have all of these
Destinies to choose from:
Your destiny may give you room
To get a boyfriend from India,
Europe and America,
And you freely choose India.
Haha! This is my take on destiny.
Strange to many people, I know,
But that is how my mind
Is working.
On the subject of destiny.

Mending

Mending cover

It’s the eve of another year past. Life changes and different anatomical pains arise. I made some new friends this year and reunited with some old acquaintances. There were some I wished well and sent them on their way. But, in a summation, I wish I knew where life would find me.

I’m not sad or alone, decrepit or incapacitated but instead, I feel young and vibrant; blessed with vitality and youthfulness. It makes me wonder, because, at my age, I shouldn’t be going ninety miles per hour. If God is making an example out of me, well… He’s doing a pretty good job! So it’s time to reflect on the past hurricanes ravaging my lingering memories. That’s all left to stand.

I ask God to lead me in an effort to comprehend life’s twists and turns. My future path is anyone’s guess, but I can say He’s made miracles happen which are out of my control. I have to decipher my own handwriting when He fills my head with messages. I only wish I could dial the heavens and share the joy with Mom and Dad.

Materialistically, a loss is a sign of weakness, but spiritually speaking, any catastrophe brings strength in times of adversity. Outside forces controlled my earlier years. But for the second half, I’ll return to the point God first touched me. I’m mending this section and my days left in it. I only ask of my Father to protect me. May joy accompany my life, and friendships blossom, yet praise the “love” who kept searching for me. Mending the past to the present is heaven-sent – this makes sense. I only wish I figured out the signs He was sending me thirty-four years ago for there’s no telling the direction my life would yield. Today, a gravitational pull beacons my spirit as God is now my priority.

I’m older tomorrow by one year, and I wonder how many more God will give me to enjoy? Though I lost my parents when I was young, He watches over my hurts and fills my soul with peace. But, how can “sorry” help if no one ever listened to my hurts? Only forgiveness sends messages to the deceased. To patch my broken years, I would have to fill the voids; however, there’s no home remaining, nor church which captivated my soul – just the first place I came in contact with the Almighty.

Mending a broken past with joyful present memories brings me a craving of jubilation. Jesus knows my heart.

Thank you, Lord, for my life!

EDITOR’S NOTE:

God bless you, my sweet husband! Your walk in life is the most inspiring I’ve ever witnessed. You are a joy and inspiration to our family and friends! Each day spent with you brings another smile and blessings bountiful. How can we ever thank you enough for “just being you”!

Thank you, God, for the glorious messenger you brought into all our lives!
