The Three Ghosts of Christmas

Behold, the joy of the holidays – giving and receiving, is upon us! It was just a week before Christmas that Charles Dickens published A Christmas Carol in the year 1843. The many books this author wrote reveals his deep Christian faith and the principles of a moral life. His most infamous character, Scrooge, is the story of a heart transformed, or should we say re-born? It’s no wonder Dickens called this work-of-art his “ghostly little book,” for Christ reflects all over the pages.

If we analyze the character of Scrooge, like ours, we see the light and darkness of life, salvation, and a second chance of God’s blessings. Three spirits visited him: The Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Let’s begin with the first spirit…

Our Ghost of Christmas Past

The Ghost of Christmas Past reflects on Scrooge’s younger years. Similar to us, there is happiness, sorrows, and perhaps even regrets. We struggle to find the true meaning of life. Where do we fit in, and what is our purpose? We work so hard to achieve comfort, security, and the American dream. However, we avoid suffering and challenges to preserve our dignity and self-worth. Soon, it becomes clear those ghosts will eventually reappear to haunt us later in life. Just as Scrooge learned, bad decisions leave us fearful, confused, shaken, and empty, and we carry them into the rest of our years.

Our Ghost of Christmas Present

Scrooge is now absorbed by the worries and burdens of wealth. Consumed in running his business and providing for his own needs, he cared little about others. His happiness equated to money and possessions, but ironically, he is the most unhappy character. Our Ghost of Christmas Present opens the door to glimpse how quickly we alienate friends and family with self-centered actions of greed. The lack of helping others in need placed Scrooge in the category of being a miserly, old man. How would others see us too?

Many characters in The Christmas Carol opened their hearts to Scrooge. His nephew, Fred, encouraged him to be a part of his life and home, even at Christmas. Scrooge grumbled, “Bah humbug.” His employee, Bob Cratchit, wanted him to participate in fundraising for charity. Still Scrooge quickly snubbed such a crazy idea. Cratchit tried to make him see that joy should come from our treasures – family, friends, life, and love – not material goods.

The characteristic of imprisoning ourselves with possessions, if we don’t share with our neighbors, is synonymous with a lack of love and compassion for others. Jesus warns us in the Bible we can’t take earthly things with us when we pass from this world. So what’s the point of it all?

I have a revelation to ponder… what if God only gave us our blessings to give to others who really need them? What if they were not meant for your exclusive pleasure?

The joy of Christmas should reflect a smile of happiness when someone receives a gift of love, yes? I know many say that presents are not what the reason for the season is about, am I right? Jesus was our gift from God. He walked the earth to teach us how to live graciously, godly, and always to serve others. What better time than the season of giving, to follow in His footsteps?

Scrooge realizes his selfishness and sins, and a change soon comes.

Our Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come

Scrooge’s “conversion” points to finding his salvation based on redemption and charity. He walked the streets with a smile, greeted everyone, helped beggars, and glowed the love of God. Though many were apprehensive of his attitude change, they discovered some significant event, indeed, altered his life. Isn’t this how everyone, one day, falls into God’s grace? We realize this life is more comfortable in a relationship with our Savior. When we break our own mortality, our hearts soften for others.

Christ gave Scrooge a second chance to make it right, and He does this for us too! Our life should be a journey of service to the Lord.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Stewardess of the Sky

What if today was the last day as you know it? Would you wake and pray, read texts from the Bible, or go for a walk and talk to God? What would you do? Would you do anything different to ensure the quality of your everlasting life in heaven? Is there a place safe from Satan’s atrocities and free from worry? Isn’t it humbling to realize we are at the hands of a merciful creator who created us to bring Him glory on earth?

Rest assured, our God is greater than all things known to man. But His love for us is constant for He already knows our destiny. I hear your sad thoughts, but know God has you in His palms. Place your faith on a plane, flying high, like a stewardess in the sky. Your faith will be redeemed when the end of the flight returns in the night. God promises a safe journey to all believers as we fight the hell here on earth. Putting God first is the difference between harmony and disasters, hatred and peace in the world.

I wonder what goes through the mind of some people? Are papers in order and wills drawn up to protect the living? Do you live in denial today could be your last? Only our Father in heaven has the final decision for our life span. Don’t let Satan stoke the fires of doubt, worry, and fear. Trust God and surrender your life to Him. Our great Creator will govern your days with infinite wisdom and power. Would you want it any other way? He sees the light at the end of your tunnel.

“If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s” (Romans 14:8).

As a stewardess of the sky set your spirit high above the earth. Let God handle the misfortune which contrives to make your mind soured. No matter how bad things may appear, God is mightier than all evil.

A cure for your worries is just a prayer away as long as it’s mailed in faith. But don’t forget to push the send button as God waits on your prayers. Faith in our Father will allow you good fortune. Serve Him like a stewardess in the sky and be prepared as God sends answers in your direction. Blessed be our Father in heaven.

America’s Prophecy… the End

In the night’s quiet, I arrived home from work. It was peaceful and calm, but in my subconscious mind, a volcano of thought was about to spew onto paper. Under a cloudless sky of endless frustration, my imagination exploded with a horrific thought. Our political arena comes to my mind, but before I let logic equate the scenario, I must refer to the place all things begin – the BIBLE. Allow me to share the first thing my eyes set on…

[During the first four trumpets, each nation will be forced to suspend its constitution so that martial law can be enacted. Given the size and scope of God’s wrath, world leaders will do whatever it takes to maintain control. Food and water supplies will be rationed. Medical care and energy reserves will be scarce. Hunger and thirst will drive millions of dazed and bewildered people crazy. Extreme situations require desperate solutions. Earth’s population has never seen a global crisis like the first four trumpets. The crisis will be so huge that political leaders in every nation will be set free of their constitutional obligations almost immediately. This freedom will permit them to enact and enforce laws they would have strongly opposed during normal times. The declaration of martial law will make it very easy for lawmakers to comply with the demands of Babylon’s clergy. Given the fact that something must be done to appease God, very few citizens will complain – at first.]

READ THE COMPLETE ARTICLE HERE: https://www.danielrevelationbiblestudies.com/Martial_Law.htm

Yes, my friends in Christ, martial law is written in scriptures! I highly encourage you to read the full article by following the link. It is profound to know America is in prophecy. My faith is in God as I now see the direction this nation is headed soon. I look no further than the borders of my yard for a source of peace for God gives me the strength to do all things through faith.

God blesses me with messages to relay to my followers, and many calls me eccentric or bazaar. As Jesus spoke, His messengers will be mocked and doubted, and I accept the role. However, this blog is not my prediction but straight out of the Bible, in the Book of Daniel.

I often speak, in quiet corners, about martial law in America. Today they soften those harsh words to “State of Emergency” situations. They are unpredictable and maybe scary but revealed in the Books of Daniel and Revelation. I will not attempt to interject my thoughts into this article for you will read it and draw your conclusions.

As we watch events unfold in the United States and the Middle East, the balance of power falls into the grip of the most powerful nations. The correlation between prophecy and scripture is uncanny. Our open borders, lawlessness, and sovereign territory are now infiltrated by self-servant beliefs, religions, and cults. They brainwash even our children, as prophesied, to believe other forms of capitalism is healthier than our longstanding democracy. The book, Lord of the Flies, comes to mind. No one can govern themselves without disastrous consequences!

In a pun, I say the word Bible stands for “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.” The truth is, it is written by philosophers and astrologers who predicted, two thousand years ago, the events we face now and in the near future. But, the prophet, Daniel, saw the vision of martial law, or loss of our liberty. How profound!

Daniel the Prophet

So, what would Jesus say to us today about America’s circumstances? I believe He would say though we can’t change the evilness of the world, but we can allow God to change us. Thoughts run deep, and I’m unable to put my writing tablet down long enough to pour another cup of coffee. How many of our friends and family members will live through martial law? How many will place God in their heart and soul for eternal salvation? Does it scare you many of us will never see our loved ones again?

My heart tremors for God is coming to rule… no doubt, it’s the beginning of the end.

FAITH 101

Faith is an interesting topic which I examined from many perspectives – atheism, Christians, and other religions. I’ve witnessed its results in many unexpected situations and outcomes. Faith, according to Hebrews 11:1, is “being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” We are born with the ability to have faith. But, for as many followers who trust in God, too many are non-believers or kinda/maybe believers. So I ask myself, how can I exploit the wonderful acts of God? How can I assure my readers God is real and lives inside every one of us? How can I teach you what I was taught about faith?

I could start with the physical proof of the Bible. Archeologists recently uncovered evidence of biblical stories such as the finding of the steps which led into the pool of Siloam and tombs in Nazareth. Technology is fantastic for it uncovers the truths of the Bible dating back to the beginning of time. But, unfortunately, doubters still block out the unearthing and go their merry way as doubters in a world of faith followers.

Pool of Siloam in the city of Jerusalem. It is here Jesus restored the eyesight of a man born blind.

What about unexplainable miracles which occur to many people? Accidents, where angel forms appear in pictures, happen all the time. Victims were unscathed and listed as a survivor. Then, my personal story is labeled miraculous by a minister. God instructed me ten years ago to get out of bed and write His messages. I was an undereducated carpenter who knew nothing about writing, and today I lead a blog with twenty million readers. God, like us, has a great sense of humor. Ok, many people do not believe in miracles either, but this phenomenon can create questions in the minds of non-believers.

Perhaps a better approach to explain the concept of faith to an unbeliever is by an example…

Have you ever experienced a backed-up septic system? You can’t call a repairman because it’s expensive, so you contemplate fixing the problem yourself using a different solution. At the local hardware store, the salesperson reaches for a box of “Rid-X” and tells you to follow the instructions. You hop in the car with the box sitting firmly next to you and think, “Man, I hope this works!” At bedtime, you pour it into the bowl and flush it twice, just as the instructions described on the label. Standing nervous over the “throne,” you say,  “LORD, PLEASE LET THIS WORK!” Oh, wait! I thought you didn’t believe in God? How can you call on God to help when you don’t believe in Him? If you are an agnostic or atheist, you just sinned against your own belief for you prayed to a higher power to help with an emergency.

How many times have you heard the expression, “just have faith, all will work out”? These words are an assurance of things we hope for but not yet received. Faith comes before answered prayer or before an individual has received what they requested from God. In sharp contrast, those who take for granted they don’t need a “God” in their life – look out! Christ is not a plumber, so stop praying to the wrong “throne”! Instead, find a friend who can guide you to a church where the plumbing is routed straight to heaven. At least you will not be misled by Satan’s evil sludge. Put God first, and it will surprise you how simple life is when He’s figured into the equation.

The basic theory of Faith 101 believes in God’s existence even though you cannot see Him. He designed it this way to distinguish between those who belong to Him and those who won’t, in death. If you have faith, God will reveal himself fully to you. His integrity is perfect.

I serve a mighty and awesome Lord, and I promise, through prayer, everything is fixable. The best policy to invest in for any homeowner is Faith 101. ~~www.danabicksauthor.com~~

The Three Will Meet

As the sun glistened in the sky, so shall God’s love and mercy radiate below the heavens. The waters receded reflecting the beginning of life. The elegance of the ocean’s beauty permeated in every ripple and sparkled like diamonds. Marine life emerged, slowly inhabiting the pristine bodies of the sea. The earth turned green from the growth of new sprouts. Creatures with feathers perched atop cliffs and took their first flight in the morning breeze. Beasts of the earth moved along the ground frolicking and seeking food. God was pleased He created a perfect balance to the sea and land.

It is here the three will meet…

So, God decided it was time to create His own image and let him enjoy the fruits of His imagination. Man, the most sophisticated species, roamed the land and learned to hunt above and below the earth’s surface. But, our Creator realized man needed a complement, so he didn’t have to live alone. He made a correction to the plan and gave the man a submissive woman to love, adore, and honor. She was a goddess from heaven, where all human life evolved, and a rib created her. They cultivated the earth with the enjoyment of love, bringing gifts to God. What a masterfully crafted world designed by an architect far beyond our scope of knowledge!

It is here the three will meet…

Then suddenly, out of the blue, cumulus clouds mounted, and storms roared destruction to His creation. Evil evolved, and lightning tried to conquer the earth. God was furious Satan, a fallen angel of all people, found pleasure in the flames of wickedness. So, Noah built an ark to help Him wash away the sin of the world, but to no avail. Evil came back with a vengeance. This time, God sent Moses with scripted laws in stone which gave guidelines for mankind to live by, but still, immorality existed. Now distraught, God insisted on filling the world with love, so He divinely created an offspring in His own image. This child would attempt to right the wrong in people.

There the three will meet…

Ultimate wealth now lies upon the edges of the origin of the earth. God vowed His son shall return and destroy all persisting evil. If you lay claim to worldly idols, be prepared… you won’t have them much longer. Death and destruction are in the forecast. God will eliminate sin with the same scorching flames evil derived from when Satan arrived on earth.

So, I shall run to meet Him, at His point of origin – the beginning of life. Like all sinners, I too will bear the heartaches of hell on the incoming tide. God will scold for poor choices, yet many will still choose the path of least resistance. Behold your breath, for the undertaking of God words, shall not be minced in heaven. I will stand with all of humanity, when the firestorm commences, praying our Father will save those who asked for forgiveness.

I beacon all believers to join me. Let us gather, in good faith, and bring love to the beach where Christ will come calling once again.

For there the three will meet – the Father, the Son, and… will you be joining me too in the celebration? ~~www.danabicksauthor.com~~

The Reign Will Return

Ominous clouds grew more abundant, and the earth trembled beneath the old wooden cross. The winds didn’t whisper – they yelled His name, Jesus, the son of God! Wait – that was two thousand years ago… or was it?

Sitting in a cloud darkened room, I hear the rumble of the shaking heavens. The day was Good Friday, but what was so “good” about it? Religiously speaking, it was the day God’s son brutally lost His life. It was so sad! Jesus lived and died with the knowledge He was only here to fulfill a prophecy for mankind. The weight of the world rested upon His shoulders. Was His death in vain? Surely, I pray it’s not true!

One innocent man was sent to earth to change our thinking, but I wonder, what did we learn? This Easter weekend, the earth will recall the event of two thousand years ago. Astronomers announced a very rare occurrence – the moon will turn pink (of all colors) and a high energy field will surround the earth. Coincidence? I wonder and gasp at the thought of Christ watching to see who’s paying attention to His signs. Alone in my conscience, I tremble at the possibility.

Jesus didn’t live His life according to anyone else. The parables He taught was open for interpretation so He could communicate with listeners. He loved and believed in mankind with all His heart and soul. As in ages ago, amongst the belting rain and clapping thunder, can we sympathize with the saddest biblical day? For Christians, His death still vibrates in our lives, thousands of years later.

Good Friday… whoever connects “Good” with the death of our Savior? He came to release the sin Adam and Eve placed on us at the beginning of time. Jesus made a stance and was crucified to save the world. If you think you suffer today, examine the agony God put His only son through to offer us everlasting life. How can one ever repay the Lord’s mercy? How do we repent enough of our sin?

But, the sun rises on Easter, with the promise of a brighter day. The folded loincloth left behind, which covered Jesus’ face in the tomb, meant, “I’m coming back!” Let us celebrate a second chance to make it right for the Lord! As for myself, I can’t wait to stare in the eye of diversity and shake the hand of a man named Christ Jesus. We have nothing to fear when we do not question our faith.

Let the earth tremor, for our wonderful Lord created a man we call our King, who died to give us life again. The reign will return in His “Good”ness forever! www.danabicksauthor.com

May everyone have a wonderful and blessed Easter!

Jesus’ Ministry

It’s the Holy Week for Christians, and I reverently remember our Lord, Christ Jesus. In the quiet of my domain, I search the Bible for answers to my questions such as what was Jesus’ real ministry on earth? Did Jesus practice a religion or was He a rebel who rode off into the desert eluding Roman authorities?

Jesus spread the principles of entering God’s kingdom to all walks of life in Galilee, Capernaum, Judea, and Nazareth. He started at about the age of thirty at the River Jordan near Bethany-across-the-Jordan where He called His first five disciples. Though our Savior was Jewish, his ministry often taught parables and verses from the “sacred books” which we know today as the Old Testament. But, sometimes He referred to the Hebrew Bible, specifically the five books of Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy), the Torah, and the Book of Psalms.

As you may detect, Jesus disdained religious discord. He wanted people to love one another and love God. This was the basic concept of all His messages and the only way to heaven. Love and kindness is not a religion but an emotion, so He reached listeners through relationships rather than synagogues. When we integrate the theory of one religion into our life, God’s lessons often become overshadowed by hypocrisy, hatred, and division. Today’s religious persecution of humanity is such an example of this concept. Instead of loving one another and maintaining the state of our hearts, we fight to the end defending our religious rights. This was the exact reason Jesus’ ministry remained non-denominational – one church under Christ Jesus.

The parables Jesus taught became His primary method of speaking His Father’s words. He rarely used texts out of scriptures nor explained or commented on them. He considered this “preaching,” not teaching; instead, He left Himself open to interpretation and offered a story for listeners to ponder and ask, how can this get me into heaven? The Parable of the Mustard Seed was Jesus’ favorite.

THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF JESUS’ MINISTRY

LOVE

At the core of Jesus’ ministry were a few critical impressions which He consistently shared with everyone; foremost was love. Believers asked Him occasionally which commandment was the greatest, and His response stood with, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and all your strength.” His second favorite was, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love is the nucleus of everything right and perfect in the world. Jesus taught examples of love and compassion by healing the sick, restoring eyesight, and feeding the hungry. But, He emphasized loving our enemies for even though they are wicked, they also need love. “Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.”

FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness was the second most important concept to Jesus. He spoke we must repent of sins and ask God for forgiveness so God may forgive our wrongdoings. Jesus claimed we must forgive every time we are wronged. “If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”

JUDGING OTHERS

Jesus also warned His listeners not to judge others since we are all sinners. Though born sinless, He still had mercy and compassion for mankind. He often told the story of an adulteress woman about to be stoned to death (found in John 8:1-30). Jesus told her accusers, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.” They all departed and Jesus told the woman, “Neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more.”

WEALTH AND POVERTY

Jesus did not speak it is a sin to be wealthy, only that we give our riches back to the Lord and others in need. He spoke of the affluent becoming too attached to material possessions for when we die, our “objects of happiness” will mean nothing. Christ used the example of a rich man who lived by all the other commandments, and he approached Him to find out how to have eternal life. Jesus replied, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” The man became very sad because he could not part with his riches. Jesus later told His disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.” Doesn’t say much for the Powerball today, does it?

Let us analyze your strength, as a Christian, in this situation. If Jesus were to come to you today and ask you to give up your home and all possessions to follow Him, WOULD YOU DO IT? If the answer is yes, you may find eternal salvation in heaven. If the answer is no, it is time to question your faith and love of money and objects. What means more to you – living as one with God, now and forevermore, or exploiting the riches which cease after you die and you stand in judgment by the Lord? Will it be God or your self-centeredness?

HYPOCRISY

Jesus learned of hypocrisy by observing the Pharisees. They prayed in the streets and always attended the temple, but the inside, their contemptible hearts were made of stone. He loathed hypocrisy in any form. Our sovereignty to God is a private matter and not to be exploited in crowds. You may ask why this is imperative? Because we are sinners, our actions often fall short of God’s requirements. If we expose our praise and inner thoughts of God to outsiders, yet our daily activities show different, we become deemed a hypocrite and severely judged. Many non-believers will not follow the church because of this very reason.

PRAYER

Jesus often taught the nature and power of prayer. He emphasized “The Lord’s Prayer” and said it was not for show but a private matter. “When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Prayers are to be directed to God the Father only, not angels, saints, or Mary. Jesus considered chanting of prayers to be of pagan roots, now observed in Catholic and Orthodox churches. He asked we use prayers to develop a close, personal relationship with God.

Do we see the irony in Jesus’ instruction on praying? How many large churches, today, organize huge crusades and festivals to bring people closer to God? How often do we receive an invite on Facebook to join a Watch Party where someone is screaming out the name of the Lord and asking for forgiveness? The idea churches adopted prayer methods against Jesus’ teaching is quite a dose to swallow. They walk in total disregard of the foundation of God’s word!

Christ Jesus tested and prevailed in His ministry of love, right down to His last days. He was a sinless mortal man leading the way for humanity to follow in His footsteps. Yes, Jesus paid the ultimate price for His beliefs in love.

On this day, Good Friday, I plead my faith to Him, under the cross which He brutally hung on for me and all sinners. I also pray my Father will bless my ongoing ministry for all who come searching to fill a void in their heart with our Lord, Jesus Christ. And finally I pray, friends, you find God’s peace and love on this holy weekend. www.danabicksauthor.com

The Sleeping Saints

A simple bible scripture quietly wrapped up within the Easter season, placed a conviction on sinners and nonbelievers. Christ’s crucifixion was not in vain. Allow me to test your knowledge of an event which surrounded the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is written in the Apostle’s Creed.

Did you know many saints were raised from the dead along with Jesus? It’s a shocking revelation, written only in the Book of Matthew, and overlooked by many because the occurrence is not mentioned by any other author of the Holy Word. But, here it remains…

Matthew 27: 52-53

52and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

As Christ died to take away our sins, the heavens turned an angry gray and black. The earth rattled and split rocks on the sacred grounds where He hung on the cross at Golgotha. God’s power showed His wrath to the Romans who did not believe He sent Jesus to earth to prove His existence. What better way to convince them than to raise the sleeping saints from Jerusalem?

The tombs of many people were broke open in a strong earthquake. After Jesus arose from the dead, the saints raised out of their graves and returned to Jerusalem, known as the Holy City. Friends and family instantly recognized them. Though we do not know for sure who these holy people were, they stayed alive during the forty days Jesus continued on earth, after His death. It is suggested they returned, along with Jesus, to heaven.

Can we not testify this biblical event immortalizes God’s power over life and death? The resurrection of the sleeping saints reveals all believers should have no fear of death, for one day, we too, will be raised to join our Almighty Father. This gives us reason to have hope in eternal salvation, and perhaps, assurance our sins will be forgiven in heaven if we become faithful followers of God today.

EDITOR’S COMMENTS:

Matthew’s Bible passage swirls in controversy. Biblical scholars feel there is no validity to it because the raised dead, seen by others in Jerusalem, was not referenced anywhere else in the Bible. They suggest we should understand this passage to be a preview of our resurrection at the End Times. But, would resurrecting the dead really be so hard to believe since it was a divine act?

Based on 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, this event would undoubtedly undermine Jesus’s resurrection. Theologians believe God has resurrected no one to eternal life as an immortal spirit yet—except Christ.

As we’ve always commented on other controversial blogs we cannot disprove any biblical passages in this life. Our wonderful Lord wrote the Bible with the message it is never to be deciphered as we see fit, therefore in my eyes…so it shall stay.

“Father forgive them, they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)

Born Again

All men are equal creations in God’s eyes. We are a miraculous life up to our last breath of oxygen on earth. Born sinners, we are considered spiritually dead. Just as the morning sun rises over a cup of coffee though, we can renew our birth. God gives us another day, yet another chance, to announce the forgiveness of our sins and walk with Him.

A church’s grand ceremonial display, known as baptism, is the only way many find comfort in their spirituality. In my opinion, the rhetoric of the performance sets an example of what’s wrong with our society today. Hypocrites grandstand in church with applause as a new believer gives their life to the Lord. Far too prevalent are those who “talk the talk” but do not “walk the walk” as a born again Christian. The simple act of being submerged in holy water will never bestow you the rank of being born again. It isn’t how much of the Bible we memorize, but how many scriptures we can live by every day thereafter. It is being ever mindful of our sins and praying for God to teach us a better way.

Being baptized is not a date on a calendar. It’s a way of life to honor Christ as a religious follower. Even though Jesus was not a sinner, John the Baptist still baptized Him. You may ask why, then, did He enter the Jordan River? Jesus humbled himself in obedience to His Father to set an example for us of faith. Baptism publicly declares we are a follower of Jesus Christ. It is also a symbol of His burial and resurrection.

“Those who accepted his message were baptised….” Acts 2:41

DOES BAPTISM AUTOMATICALLY SAVE ME?

In today’s times, too many born again Christians believe baptism automatically saves them, but this is just the beginning of the journey. Do you realize the act of receiving the holy water places you under harsher scrutiny in the Lord’s eyes? Why? God sets higher expectations on believers because we now know the difference between right and wrong. As I mentioned above, hypocrites fill our churches. They walk out the doors and continue on with their comfortable lifestyle without giving God the time of day throughout the week. The commitment to living for Him stops at the steeple. We must stay in shape and be willing to serve His kingdom at every corner. Be alert in times of need and show others who we are – God’s anointed children. Set an example for this our job as a born again Christian!

The Bible teaches us prerequisites to follow before we can be a born again Christian. These specifications will also reveal why the christening of babies performed in some church denominations, is not a scripturally accepted act.

Though I’m sure someone will challenge me on this statement, we cannot deny the Bible verses which substantiate this blessing of holy water:

PREREQUISITES TO BAPTISM ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURES

  • We must hear and understand the Gospel. Can a baby perform this duty?

Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults. 1 Corinthians 14:20

  • We must believe the Gospel. Infants do not understand the Gospel.

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Galatians 3:26-27

  • We must fully repent of our sins. A baby knows nothing of sin. This is a decision to turn from sin and live for God.

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

  • We must believe in our heart and confess Christ with our mouth. Infants cannot communicate faith. We must first speak an understandable statement, so a minister/pastor knows they are baptizing someone who has faith.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is LORD,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

A born again Christian is a renewed person in Christ. They are now a member of Jesus’s body and must walk as sinless as possible on earth. It requires full control of the mouth, mind, and body language. God is first in our life, over and above everything and everyone. I’ve been up for the challenge for many years, are you? The celebration of Jesus’ resurrection will be here in a couple of weeks. Won’t you commit your life to be one with Him?
