Do You Fear God or Fear the World?

I wrote about the fear of God recently and what this concept should mean to Christians. The quote I said was, “He wants us to understand we should run to Him when the enemy approaches us.” So, today, I would like all my readers to take a closer look at your environment. Do you observe fear in many people’s eyes? It’s prevalent, too, in Christians who are supposed to be a model of God’s being.

Satan and the antichrist have joined forces to create havoc in the world, so we are submissive and live in fear, just as Satan likes us to do. Hiding in our homes, we stripped ourselves of freedom, isolated from society. Spiritually disconnected congregations are not fearing God and His promise to protect us. Instead, we’ve converted to the dictionary meaning of “an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.” This kind of fear is the opposite of faith!

I must ask, how much faith do you have in God’s power? Are you afraid to be in public or do you show anxiety walking outside your home? Are you scared to live by yourself? Do you fear losing a job, your home, or a loved one? Why live in fear?

When we truly know God’s love, our life is transformed, and fear is nonexistent. We must understand that mankind does not have control over any circumstances, for only the Lord develops our future. The love He instills in us is not weak. He does not want us to walk through life full of fear, worry, and anxiety.

The dictionary word fear begins with a thought, and where the mind goes, man will surely follow. For this reason, studying the Bible and meditating on its words is crucial for Christians. Fearing only God will give Him the respect He deserves, and in return, He will protect you from harm.

If God is on your side, what can man do to you? We must trust Him that all things will work together for His glory. You can’t fear God and fear the world at the same time. You are peaceful or fearful, but you can’t have both states of mind.

Today, stand against the evil forces at every corner and fear the God who keeps you whole, undivided, and safe. Have faith in His words! Be vigilante in prayer and prepare yourself for His second coming, not on the fears of this world.

Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil” Ecclesiastes 12:13–14.

Virus and Violence to Victory

Rampant corruption runs deep in our country. We hide in our homes and pray things will get better. Virus, violence, and victory… which one do you stand for?

Corruption and undermining good intentions have progressed as long as life has existed. We can start with Cain and Abel, where hate and greed dominated the soul of a brother. But bigger than this was the man who walked with Jesus named Judas. He betrayed Jesus and sold His soul for thirty pieces of silver.

What’s new today is not new at all because it’s just another viral wave of interruptions. Many people try to ward off the godly intentions of men. Through the course of history, our founding fathers fought feverishly for our freedom. A hundred years later, civil wars brought unrest, and thousands died at the hands of the enemy. Years later, we fought to protect what man deemed worthy of God’s protection.

Today, we watch another wave of hatred. It is still the men who give their sweat defending humanity’s rights from viruses and violence, so we may once again live in victory. Every war had viruses that plagued soldiers. “Agent Orange,” I remember, was the disease that killed so many of my friends who served in Vietnam. Now, COVID 19 is as viral as any war ever seen on our land. It can be said the virus and violence running through the veins of our precious country is just another attack to hinder our sweat equity.

Victory is the vibrant whispers of standing together, believing in one God, and going home to a place of peace, as our Lord Jesus promises us. No viruses or violence will be… just the sweet triumph of living where evil is not permitted behind the gates of Heaven.

I lost a talented friend and follower this week. He stood for the men who wore their sweat on their brow and was the greatest fiddle player in the world, Charlie Daniels. He gave his life to be with Christ while hoping he made this world a better home for America. I hope a comrade, a soldier, or a statue will stand in honor of this good man’s memory. God graced us with his presence. We should all be blessed to call him “friend.”

From virus to victory and all the violence we’ve endured, let us praise God for our strength, for we are stronger in numbers. No virus can claim where eternity prevails! Jesus paid our debt to be free from the sins of the world and non- believers. Rise, my friends! Our Redeemer lives graciously in our hearts and homes.

Virus and violence (is there a difference??) have no home in our hearts or home when we live in victory with Jesus. Praise God, won’t you? For it is He glowing our bright light. Listen to the lyrics, the sweet sounds of victory for God is about to bring us all home.

A Psalm of David (Psalm 108: 1-6; 12-13)

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make melody.

    Awake, my soul!

Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn.

I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to you among the nations.

For your steadfast love is higher than the heavens, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.

Give victory with your right hand, and answer me, so that those whom you love may be rescued.

O grant us help against the foe, for human help is worthless. With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.

The Perfect 10

As society sways in and out of the going tide, I reach for answers deep inside my soul. Hatred brands many minds as their evil destruction is so uncharacteristic of God’s original creation. Today we are at the mercy of the town criers who scream, “The world is ending!” Funny, it’s only the unbelievers who are running scared and to such wild extremes. God set on stone tablets the instructional directions that we are to follow – the perfect 10, known as the Commandments.

While rereading these moral laws, can we understand that if everyone lived by them, then crime, hatred, and deplorable sins would barely exist? And of all the alterations to the Bible and God’s Words, never have these laws been touched. Interesting! So, they are my perfect ten, for they are the only laws we need to live a godly life.

In my reverence, I consider what man has done to the essence of society. They removed the Lord from schools; very few believe in Him or attend church, churches are burned down, and social media placed bans on Christian posts. Among the battle cries, we have hateful, godless children and adults who wave their artillery, damning everyone’s life. In their rightful mind, no man will find peace and harmony without the Lord seated in their soul!

As history repeats itself, God sent the perfect ten for the Israelites, His chosen people, to follow because riots and upheavals were commonplace. His commandments, handed to Moses, defined their sin and revealed the difference between the holy and a commoner.

“Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ (Exodus 19:5-6) …”

The Lord also clarified that those defiant in His laws will forever carry the guilt because it is blasphemy. Need I clarify that society, today, doesn’t want any standard of righteousness, rules, or Commandments? People do not recognize their bondage of sin, and sadly, they are doomed. Satan has deceived the inhabitants of this world!

Christians, I ask you to please pray for the lost who dominate our land. May we all soon, see the power of the Perfect Ten. Let us hold close God’s laws and never forget their meaning or value for our eternal salvation.

Recognizing Humanity

As appalling current events unravel before our very eyes, an underlying message lies deep between the lines of the newspapers and social media posts. Christians must understand we need to stand up, today, for the Lord and His written Word. Be followers of Jesus, or live in the sinful realm of Satan!

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.  1 John 3:7

Are all people not created equal? Did God make one race superior over another? No! He made each person unique in His own light, and an “image of Him.” So, why is there a need for racism?

My first thought in recognizing humanity is the word equality. It engulfs the notion that every person, regardless of religion, race, or gender, has the same rights. I believe this to be true, but many in the United States have a tough time putting it into practice. I think the issue is not about equality, but a varying difference of opinions. Let me give you an example…

In today’s times, the Jews often dispute “the image of God.” They feel strongly that God was referring only to Israel’s nation, for they abide more so by the Old Testament than Christians. The problem with this is God didn’t create people to be more valuable than others, nor more deserving of His love than others.

We must come to grips with the fact that humanity will either accept God’s Word or not and live a life worthy of God. It is an individual choice – one which will be personally answered to before the Lord.

I find the greatest country on earth, oddly enough, is spreading the most immature behavior. Americans are like a box of crayons standing collectively inside a little cardboard box. Our colors bring vibrancy to creativity, yet the mean-spirited are determined to break us in half, creating separation through social justice. We each bring gifts and talents to the table, and all skin colors and religions are equal in the worth that God has given them.

My goodness! Isn’t it time to come together? Yes, I’m aware Satan has control over many; but it shouldn’t deter the rest of our communities from acknowledging the self-worth of man.

In the spirit of recognizing humanity, let us attend church regularly instead of rioting. If you want equality, then put God first. Yes, let’s recognize humanity! Instead of rioting and judging others for their race and religion, let us go to church on Sunday morning and ask for forgiveness. Pray for the lost that they may find solace in the Lord.

It is Satan’s unending motive to disenfranchise us from God, so why are we empowering him? The discrimination of racism begins in the heart, so give it to God! I ask you to recognize humanity for what it is – the Lord’s beautiful creations… born with many differences.

The Pendulum Swings

I walked into an old clocksmith store, and I could hear the tick-tock movements of the pendulums. The walls were dark and aging plaster cracks appeared everywhere. The timber moaned that supported the weathered wood floor. Time never stops as the pendulum swings.

A frail elderly man heard me enter, and he scurried out from behind a lint-covered curtain. I wanted to run as my pores turned clammy. It was time to turn the thoughts of the past behind me. We started a dialog. Time grabbed my hands, and I was held in the bondage of yesterday’s movement.

Life is deeply portrayed by the movement of the inner workings of a clock. The gears continue to spin while God watches everything. So patiently, we wait for His perfect timing.

The tarnished faces of the clocks stared at each other. Their sounds mesmerized me. Feeling very minute, the store surrounded my every thought. I came to exchange a gift, but perhaps I’ll leave well enough alone.

And so life around me aggressively consumed my soul. The sounds of the pendulums resembled the printing presses of time. The clocks stamped out the worn-out news. Bewildered, I was frozen in time. I stood still on the uneven floor while… the pendulum swings.

Metaphorically, God is situated similarly within our souls. Just as the ticking clocks in the old store, we are standing face to face with our Maker. Even amidst His peace, our spirit is out of sync. Everyone has a choice and burying our heads will not stop time. All God’s children have an inborn clock, and soon we must realize the pendulum still swings.

Radical events surround my thoughts as the old floors are creaking where we walk today. Riot gear may protect our skin, but nothing protects our spirit. They leave us to wonder while… the pendulum still swings.

Our Lord, the old clock man Himself, determines our destiny with His watchful eyes. Hearts and minds break as we read and listen to the media’s deceitful lies, which do little to comfort our soul. It’s only God who will make the sun to rise again. The pendulum will still swing… bringing a new life.

7 Lies by which society misguides you !!

Society lies

“Society has become so fake that, the truth actually bothers people” Unknown     Image by jacqueline macou from Pixabay

It’s 4.5 minute read.

Why why all succumb to the society, having its own views on everything & anything under the the Sun ?

Society never tires you with its time tested comments ,since you are addicted to the concept of society’s benchmarks, right from your birth to till the day you die.

In other words society wants you to play by its rule book.

Do you remember the famous personality Joseph Goebbels and his quote…

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

By now I know that You are wondering which society I am talking about ? And where is that society located ?

My friend, this society is nothing but your so called

  • Ourselves
  • well-wishers (including your parents,sorry if I am brutal),
  • uncles,aunties
  • your neighbors
  • your teachers
  • your friends
  • your community
  • your daily news papers,TVs,movies
  • Regular advertisements
  • Your favorite movie stars
  • Your social media
  • Your political discussions, tastes and narratives

you name it….you have it!

Society in other word is a set  of people around you all the time, trying to manipulate you to their advantage.

1.Unconditional Love exists

A rubbish, and a lie uttered time immemorial. To be frank ,there is no such thing in the relationships.

Women marry men hoping they will change. Men marry women hoping they will not. So each is inevitably disappointed. Albert Eisenstein

Our love is directly proportional to how our partners, relatives, friends etc make us feel.

Simply put…. any body gets hurt if their expectation is not fulfilled. This is human nature and there is no escape from it.

Don’t hurt yourself by dreaming/expecting ‘unconditional Love’. Also you can never give unconditional love.Mark my statement.

2.Marriages are made in Heaven

Hmm…If it is so….just answer me why there are so many divorces ?

Marriage is like a cage; one sees the birds outside desperate to get in, and those inside equally desperate to get out. Michel de Montaigne

Is it true, some say marriage is a life long torture !

Marriage: A legal or religious ceremony by which two persons of the opposite sex solemnly agree to harass and spy on each other for ninety-nine years, or until death do them join. Edbert Hubbard

Wife & Husband-why can’t they be best friends for life ?

3.Your life is a meaningful minimum journey to be enjoyed to the maximum

Another thrash. And in spite, all the modern Gurus encourage us to lead a meaningful life.( self defeating )

What made Gautama Buddha get enlightenment ? It’s because of human suffering.Do we have similar God’s grace to get enlightened ?

Life is full of misery, and you are intelligent enough to accept that it’s painful to lead the life and death is the only permanent solution.Since we can’t die….at least let us accept the truth.

Happiness in your life is only for the time being that too in bits, and rest of the times you are busy whining.

“It’s a misery to be born,a pain to live,a trouble to die” St.Bernard of Clairvaux

Still, temporary happiness can come from minor things like, you playing with toys in your childhood, your first Kiss, sex now & then, massage, hot bath, friendship,a short travel, one night stand,A champagne,Receiving a lovely gift or a comforting hug etc.etc.. Drugs can take you to another level.

4.It’s better if you know your life partner before your marriage

Really?………another Utter lie.

No partner in love relationship..should feel that he has to give up an essential part of himself to make it viable May Sarton

Each individual is unique.Only sustained friendship in the form of total understanding between the life partners endures the marriage.

Life partners too expect personal space though they know each other so long !

Even if you knew your partner before,it’s not a guarantee for a successful marriage.

When you can’t understand the people, though you spend your whole life with them,(example parents vs children, children vs parents, siblings vs siblings),then why should you give importance to knowing your partner before?.

Understanding becomes easier after the marriage once you both know your limitations and your strengths mutually over the time.

5.Money won’t make you happy

Ha ha ….Without money you cease to exist.

My dear friend, money is everything. It brings you, both happiness and pleasure.

“Lack of money is the root of all evil”      George Bernard Shah

We work / study for what ? is this not to earn money and live happily ?

People with more money are satisfied with their life style and are in a position to help others too.

He who marries for love without money has GOOD NIGHTS & SORRY DAYS   unknown

6. Boys’ won’t cry

Virtually a child conditioning !!

“People cry not because they are weak, because they’ve been too strong for a long time” unknown

Boys too have feelings ,emotions, excitements and stages of sadness.

Otherwise why will Dr.Sivan,ISRO( The Indian Space Research Organisation ) chairman became teary eyed, when the Chandrayan mission was not successful ?There are many famous men like Andre Agassi and Obama too had teary eyes.

7.Blood is thicker than water

Unfortunately blood relatives are not interested in you, since they are struggling with their own problems and you have to fend yourself.

you can’t blame them.

‘Blood is always thicker than water, but some family members at times are on blood thinners’ unknown

Many times friends come to your rescue. The understanding with the friends anytime better than the blood relatives.

Ego and Jealousy play spoilsport in blood relationships.Don’t play victim card here !!

Please share your views.

Isn’t It Time for Some Good News?

I open Google and social media each day, and the negative news floods the pages. People are murdering the innocent with fortitude, a grim reminder Satan still walks the earth. Those with the gold try to pass absurd laws for citizens to follow while they release the guilty to commit more crimes. Lines are drawn in the dirt as men of power speak lies. We, the meek, are artists left to draw our own conclusions. Today, I sit outside in the rain to witness God’s tears of sadness as I pray for those who desperately need His help. But every now and again, we might glimpse His holy goodness.

So, isn’t it time for some good news? God is coming soon to save the faithful and who believe He is the great healer of all our pain. Prophecy promises He will honor those who uphold His holy name.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4 NIV

Let’s make hope the new headlines! The brown lawns will soon resonate to a gorgeous green, and budding plants will regain their strength. Even in times of disaster, we can witness God showing His power, and mankind, together, fights off evil as one. Many non-believers, especially overseas, have found the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Isn’t this a joy to share with others? Let us join hands in solidarity and honor God, for He will be the successor! Spread the hope of salvation to everyone!

Today, I challenge every man, woman, and child to become a leader for God. Sweep away the dead foliage of yesterday, and salt the icy bricks so we can climb the steps to heaven’s gates. Let your Christian faith shine through in every aspect of your life! Make positive changes that reflect God’s love and spread His good news.

“A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22 NIV

Memorize scriptures with a strong heart and an encouraging message. It will improve your relationships, health, and happiness. Learn new ways to replace the old negative ones. Pray for the Lord to show you the way for He is in total control of your life.

Yes! YOU will be the good news this world is so desperate to find! Faith unto us has great continuity.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2  NIV

God bless you, my friends!

Fallen From Grace

God placed before me an obstacle course of challenges to navigate last week. Two individuals felt it imperative to attack my Christian beliefs. As we observe in the world today, many people have fallen from grace while they adhere to the trending fads of social justice. Though I could have tweeted and emailed rhetorical answers, I go forth in the light of God, and write this message. I welcome a good challenge, though, for they are not aware of my history with the Lord.

I investigated a word that rattled in my brain, for there must be some form of justice in my chain of events. It occurred to me God is not just a god of love, but He is “just” – morally right and fair.

Two kinds of justice should be the most concerning for Christians: social and biblical. Much of present-day humanity confuse biblical justice when applying it to our current laws – social justice. So, let me give you some prominent examples.

BIBLICAL JUSTICE

God created all humans equal in His image and the blessing to be treated with fairness and justice. But, from the beginning of the Bible, mankind rejected God’s principles. Paul, the Apostle, warned of this blight. Biblical justice is only what is right in the sight of the Lord – not man’s laws.

“God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed.” Ecclesiastes 3:17

Biblical justice occurs when we see people as God sees them. This spiritual freedom causes us to fully embrace the cause of Christ by joining the community and reconciling others to the Lord. We should not to participate in something for just our own benefit, but for the glory of God.

He calls us to confront evil and to care for the vulnerable, however many people back away from this for fear of losing their life. So, thirty-five million people live in slavery, of some form around the world, because there is no one to save them from the horror. Injustice is rampant, and very few take action to protect the innocent. The news recently broadcast the story of a seventy-seven-year-old man beaten and robbed for a couple of hundred dollars. Did any Christian come forward to help him? Christ’s followers are to “do justice” because Christ came proclaiming justice. It is He giving a voice to the voiceless!

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” Psalm 82:3

SOCIAL JUSTICE

In matters of social justice, we become entrenched in who wronged whom, and who wronged whom first, in an undertone of anger. It spreads division and destruction, as is evident within our current U.S. government. Social division becomes based on the judgment of everyone who does not see things “our way.” The distinction Jesus taught was never about skin color, religious, ethnic, or cultural affiliations or political positions. Condemnation of people blind us to the forgiveness Christ offers us as sinners.

Also, consider this… how many social media lovers refuse to discuss religion with others? Why? Is it the fear of social injustice invoking us to hide underneath the covers? Let’s drop our apprehensions and model Christ’s truth and grace.

Social justice will never represent the law of God passed down by Moses. It is unrighteous and dehumanizing, and the moment we accept it as a way of life, we have fallen from grace.

CAN A CHRISTIAN DO GOOD IN A SOCIAL JUSTICE SYSTEM?

My answer is, “absolutely!” Upholding our dignity and biblical justice laws, we can become activists for the unborn, the elderly, marriage and family, and religious freedom. It’s not a glamorous feat, but it will quiet and humble the expression of biblical Christian justice.

May we all go out into the world with the spirit of our Lord! Be an inspiration for those who have fallen from grace. Your endeavors will be greatly rewarded!

God and Guns

Written by Anne Bicks, Editor and Marketing of Bicks Books LLC

Last Monday, I watched an event unfold in my (almost) home state of Virginia. The people I admire and love were under attack for their 2nd Amendment rights and guns. Flashbacks whizzed through my memory as if it were yesterday. I recall my dad and brothers spending many hours cleaning their guns in the living room. My oldest brother, an NRA board member, has won many medals in target shooting over the years. However, my father was a real stickler about gun safety. His words resounded in my mind – “never point it at someone” and “don’t go near the gun case without someone being with you.”

When I moved to Virginia as an adult, most of my friends belonged to hunting clubs. Some may classify them as “rednecks,” but they were the kindest human beings I ever knew, regardless of the stigma assigned to them by outsiders. Murdering others, and disrespectful, threatening behavior was not in their dialogue. So, why are these law-abiding citizens now considered the anti-Christ?

I studied the Bible for information about guns and Christians owning weapons. Many scriptures condone the use of weaponry, such as in Luke 22:37-39, where Jesus affirmed it is sometimes necessary to be armed for self-defense. In biblical times, militaries were commanded to carry something for self-defense. Nowhere does the Bible tell a soldier to give up his weapon for a life of peace.

However, there is a glitch to ponder about God and guns. Though God encourages a believer to own weapons for hunting and protection, weapons are still to be governed by civil authorities and the will of God.

What does this mean to gun owners?

Before we purchase a gun, we should consider our motivation for owning one. Is it to harm someone else, or is it to protect our life and family? After all, Jesus’ greatest commandment is to love God and love others. Exodus 22:2-3 shows that self-defense must be proportional. We can fulfill the strength of God, often, just by our faith, not self-defense.

We inherently understand there is plenty of evil in the world. Jesus understood this because he allowed one of his disciples to carry self-protection. Murders and mass murders existed long before rifles were invented, and it still exists today in countries where firearms are illegal. Explosives and box cutters committed the worst school massacre in 1927 in America, not guns.

History has proven we will never live in a violence-free society through the laws of man. Our government is mistaken to think they can control those who walk the earth intending to harm innocent people. Mankind can never control the mentally ill or those possessed with an evil spirit. We must understand that only God can protect our life, for He had a plan for us before we were born.

Whether a Christian should take steps to protect his life and family, or trust in God for protection, will always remain a debate. I’m sure a believer’s opinion on guns will be based on cultural issues more than biblical mandates. It is unfortunate one side or the other will be hurt by a government who is falsely misleading its citizens. Maybe we should pray for the officials’ peace of understanding.

Strengthen us in the power of Your might, O God. Dress us in Your armor so that we can stand firm against the schemes of the devil. We know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:10-12

Entitlement

Today’s society is bombarded with many slogans that portray us to be “deserving” of something. Such self-focused messages are:

“You deserve a break today…” used by McDonald’s

“You owe it to yourself…” used by cruise lines

“Treat yourself to take the break you deserve” used by Hilton HHonors

In the dynamics of families and relationships, how many times have you graciously gave a gift and never received a “thank you” of any kind? How often have you heard the stories of parents passing away, and the children fought over the estate and money? If a sibling or parent is near their deathbed, do they deserve to be treated with respect if they never reciprocated love to family members in a state of healthiness? What if a husband and wife purchase a home with their hard-earned money – should their children feel entitled to the parent’s assets?

Within the business world, employees arrive late and perform their duties with little ambition. They demand pay raises and better benefits. Are they really deserving of it? Or, a parent scrapes and works hard to grow a business, and their grown children now believe they’re entitled to run it when the parent is deceased.

Churches also run into the same dilemmas when the congregation feels entitled to receive answers from their pastors or to hold positions within the house of worship. And, while I walk down the path of religious connotations, many believers feel deserving of God’s blessings. Speaking of this, do you know why much of humanity walks away from God and stops believing in Him? They prayed for an answer they wanted to hear and didn’t receive it. He was a means to get what they felt entitled to in life! Ironically, I believe our church leaders are responsible for this incorrect train of thought. They stand on the pulpit and preach God will meet all our needs and give them their desires if they pledge their soul to Jesus. The fact is our sin separates us from the Lord.

Entitlement is a dangerous walk in life – it’s Godlessness. Let me be frank here – God, parents, and employers owe us nothing. God blesses us with things because He wants to – an unconditional love of grace. A selfish demand for His generosity will reap no benefits. It’s that simple!

Jesus’ ministry spoke of loving others with a grateful heart. This includes treating each other with respect, even amidst our differences. The well-being of gratitude promotes healthy relationships, both in our walk with the Lord and relationships with others.

In the subject of parenting, fewer children today respect their elders. They ignore the recognition parents deserve for years of hard work and dedication to their families because they live in the “gimme, gimme” world. These generations are gifted with their heart’s desires, and they expect it from the parents. Thus, the slogans I mentioned at the beginning of the message above, come into play. As the children grow older, they feel entitled to life. Little do we know, it promotes laziness, ungratefulness, and the subject of this blog – entitlement. What are we teaching our children and others?

So, how can we live a life feeling less entitled to things and people?

•          Humbly give thanks to God for all we receive. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

•          Remember the grace of God, for Jesus died on the cross for our sins. We do not deserve to be treated with graciousness for our sinful attitudes, but the Lord’s love and grace reaches out to us, anyway. “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” Titus 3:3-5

•          Set your mind on eternity with the Lord and not on this world. Money and physical possessions mean nothing, for they cannot be taken with you to heaven. “But, as it is written, what no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him…” 1 Corinthians 2:9

•          Continuously pray for discernment of entitlement. Why do I feel entitled, and how can I change this train of thought?

In summary of today’s message, expect little, receive with a grateful heart, and always give thanks. Give God the glory for your unexpected blessings!
