A Place of Peace

Finally, a moment of peace! After another torrential storm, I adjusted the patio furniture to find comfort again. My mind was disheveled from life’s stresses, but nonetheless, the sun returned as promised. Land lovers watched the sailors set sail from a forbidden shore. The harbor bustled once again with joy, as finally, a quiet time for wayward voyagers to relax was on their horizon.

In the green, lush woods, God protected His wildlife which took refuge in the limbs of the trees and fallen trunks. Their domestic search was long and hard to find a place they called peace.

Where I wonder, is your place of peace?

Thinking back, my mother found her peace in gardening, and my dad was quick to hit the deck and launch his thoughts sailing the waters of Maryland. My beloved brother dropped the convertible top of his Austin Healey, filled the tank, and left for hours traveling to find his peace. I have close friends who wade out to their waist in streams and cast their spinners to find their catch of the day. Others find peace in hobbies or maybe an overstuffed recliner with their nose buried between pages. My wife and many others discover harmony with sand between their toes. Jesus found peace in His long walks through the desert sands.

Many Christians find a place of peace in our Father’s house. It might be in a pew or listening to the steeple bells as the choir sings a beautiful hymn. Tranquility and contentment exude God’s presence in a church. Bible verses also bring us peace such as in Philippians 4:6-7:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The place of peace in my personal life is with Christ. Just as another brother, He’s never far from reach be it on my porch, in my home, or even my heart. When I stroll along the shores holding my wife’s hand, I know He is taking her other. If we focus on God, peace is never far behind in our life.

The Lord created a wonderful world, both on land and at sea, but I believe heaven is in your heart and soul. The true route to peace is through Jesus Christ. So, unclutter your world and unclutter your mind by surrounding yourself in His love, mercy, and forgiveness. I promise you – there will be no greater reward! Find a quiet place today and pray for your place of peace.

When Does A House Become A Home?

It is so gratifying to step over the threshold of a brand new residence. Odors from a completed punch list still linger, and in the misty sunset, the door opens to a different life. The placement of furniture and filled boxes may not be correct, but at least they found their way into the right room. It’s time to thank God for the blessings He so graciously bestowed.

As my wife and I entered the first night in our humble abode, nothing seemed comfortable. My worst fear was not finding the Coffee Maker for the next morning. But, at bedtime we embraced, sharing prayers, for it was God who made all this possible. We gave Him all the glory.

The days turned into weeks, and now a month later the newness is slowly fading away. Comforts of the dreams we prayed for are a delightful reality. God blessed our initiatives to find a location He planned for us a long time ago. We waited for His perfect timing and word to move forward.

Tonight, in the candlelight, when all is quiet, our heads shared the same pillow on our sectional. We agreed God anointed this house our home. My honey-do list keeps mounting, but its prayer and perseverance which gives me the determination. And so, I ponder… when does a house become a home?

This is a very loaded question, but let me say, good memories should reside in the four walls where you live; a nest which washes away the outside world. It provides for your basic needs and safety, also known as a house. But more significant than this, it should be a foundation based on God’s spirit – a place where He blesses your every intention. Now it becomes a home built on truth, understanding, and wisdom.

So do you live in a house or a home? Are your walls professionally decorated with a lack of the Holy Spirit, or can you feel God’s presence and abounding love when you walk in the front door?

Tranquility is the light brought to you from our heavenly Father when you allow Him to reside in your home. Glorify His honor and let your house become a home.

A full day of joy

What a colourful
And beautiful day!
That promises to be
A day of joy;
Isn’t this the lovely day
The Lord
Has planned for us?
May we make it
A day of peace
And joy for all;
That all of us may
Enjoy the sweet
Taste of peace
And tranquility!
That the torchlight
Of a broad smile
May shine brightly
On every face!
A full day of joy
And harmony
So much missed.
