Here we are!

What is the distance
Between 2019 and 2020?
It varies;
Different times
Of the year
Have different distances.
How much time does it take
From 2019 to 2020?
In January, 11 months;
In February, 10 months;
In March, 9 months;
In April, 8 months;
In May, 7 months;
In June, 6 months;
In July, 5 months;
In August, 4 months;
In September, 3 months;
In October, 2 months;
In November, 1 month.
It is not fixed.
As I write, a few minutes,
Finally, here we are;
It’s 2020.

Waving at 2020

We are waving at 2020;
And 2020 is smiling at us;
This is renewal time;
When we start afresh;
And improve performance
And correct errors;
And forgive and reconcile;
I look forward to
The many blessings of 2020.
And pray it brings us
Many graces;
That the peace
We have so much prayed
To have
May be granted to us!
We are tired of the wars,
The violence,
The insecurity
The sufferings
The killings,
That we witnessed in 2019,
And before;
We want no more in 2020.
We want a war free year;
A suffering free year;
A killings free year;
A poverty free year;
We want a year free of lies
Flowing like a river
All over the world;
May the truth be
The foundation on which
The world is built in 2020.

2020 right ahead

2020 is not far from now;
2020 is right ahead;
2020 will soon be here;
And my wish for you is,
That nothing stands
Between you and 2020.
That 2020 meets you
Strong and kicking.
That your flowers bloom
In 2020;
That the sun may shine
For you in 2020;
That the air is fresh
For you in 2020;
That 2020 be your break through year.
May it be so in 2020!

Happy July is here (Be inspired today 338 by Ngobesing Suh Romanus)

Thank God July is here;
We are in the second half
Of the year;
Thank God
The first half ended well
For me;
But not for everybody;
Some had it difficult;
Some fell on the way;
Some barely managed through;
For all who crossed the line,
And got to this secobd half,
We thank God;
May things be better
This July on!
May the barriers
On the way be less!
May we have the ability
To overcome;
May we land more on success
When the bell rings
Annoucing the end of this year!
Again, we thank you Lord,
That we are here.

Thank You 2018

Thank you, 2018;
For your special gift;
You sailed us through
Very successfully;
Like a ship on the sea;
We started slowly,
Our destination seemed
So very far away;
Looking impossible;
And then many challenges
We met on our way,
We didn’t know
We would ever arrive;
Talk less of survive;
But here we are!
Waxing ever so strong;
Left with nothing but
To sincerely thank you!
And thank God,
For he is so good;
You are leaving us behind,
But we shall for ever
Remember you.
Goodbye 2018;
You are so good;
Our arms are open
To embrace
Your successor, 2019.
Hoping he will do better
Than you.

Our year

This is our year;
Your year and my year;
A very special year;
Our year of prosperity;
Our year of success;
Our year of joy;
Our long awaited year;
Our year of happiness;
Our year of smiles and laughter;
Our year of love;
Togetherness;
And quality time.
Let us star celebrating our year;
It’s a great year for us;
Let us rejoice;
And thank God.

Daily prompt: Year

Smooth transition

To end 2016, I was in my Church for thanksgiving. I joined my Parishioners at a Thanksgiving Mass. We all prayed and thanked God for the blessings and even the challenges of 2016 which were all put on our path for our good. We then prayed for a happy, and prosperous New Year.

My spouse and I got back home and stayed up till it was 2017. We greeted the New Year with prayers that God may make it a good one for us, our family and the whole world.

We listened to all the fireworks that greeted the New Year from all parts of the city.

At 5 a.m., we were up; and at 6, we were again in Church to thank God for making us see the new year and to pray for New Year blessings.

During the Homily (sermon) the message of Pope Francis to the people of God was read. It was a lovely message that centered on peace and non-violence. He called for nonviolence in homes, communities, countries and the world and exhorted all to seek solutions to conflicts through peaceful means.

Our kids later took their turn to go to Church.

Take a look at the agenda of our celebration:
– Church;
-A common meal;
-A common drink;
-Talking;
-Photographs;
-Outing.
A smooth transition, isn’t it? If you don’t mind it, let me have a hint of yours.
