Today is youth day in my country;
The youth are out celebrating;
It is a national youth feast;
They will listen to our leader;
The president of the republic;
What shall he tell them?
It is to wait and see;
Next shall be the march past;
March past centers everywhere;
Oh youths! The future you hold;
Shall you make or mar?
What kind of leaders shall you be?
What kind of parents shall you be?
Can we count on you?
We want to hear from you.
There’s a thing that angers me;
Seeing young people idling around;
With lots of work to do;
Why do they want to reap
Where they did not sow?
How will they make it
If they refuse to work?
There is no food for a lazy one.
Tomorrow’s leadership belongs
To the young of today;
You are the young of today;
Shall you have a place
In that world?
Shall you be a leader
It shall not come
on its own;
You have to carve out
And you have what it takes
To take leadership
In your world;
Carve out your place then!
Get hold of tomorrow’s
My friend Shiva Malekopmath says
We should push the young;
I do agree;
And how do we do that?
Send them to school;
Pay their fees;
Help them in their studies;
And in their lives;
Not stand on their way;
Show them the best example;
And that will make them shine;
I agree with you Shiva Malekopmath;
Let’s push our youth forward.
The old who block the young from growing make a big mistake. They know not what they do. The young shall grow, whether we like it or not.
The future belongs to the young. Let us give them the help they need to be the best persons they can be.
Many people look older than they really are. Many factors account for this. One reason is they think old. When you think old, you are bound to act old and look old.
The secret of staying young is to think young and feel young at heart. In addition, to eat foods that will keep you young, interact with the young, free your mind of worries, negative thoughts and ill feelings against others.
These are the things that I do and intend to continue to do to keep me looking young.
Young At Heart
What are your thoughts on aging? How will you stay young at heart as you get old.
The youth are
The leaders of tomorrow;
So the politicians sing everyday;
Tomorrow never comes;
The youth grow old;
The politicians sit tight on seat;
And the sweet melody continues;
The youth are the leaders of tomorrow;
What a smokescreen to stay in power;
What a fallacy,indeed!
Listen to me,young people!
Are you listening to me?
It is to you I talk;
It is for you I am here;
Listen to me
And get what I say;
It is for love of you
I work day and night;
Gloss not over my words;
Listen to me;
My words will change your life;
Listen to me;
And do what I say.
I hear the aspirations of parents for their children and get shocked. What is even more shocking is the advice some parents give their kids. They advise their kids as if they did not know times had changed.
When it comes to jobs, all that a lot of parents want is job security for their children. They don’t care what the job offers. All they want is their boy or girl should have a job and be sure of making ends meet at the end of the month. Parents, at least in my country, want to move with their shoulders high that their son or daughter is working. But what type of job? Where does it take them?
This job-security thinking stuff is not for our digital children.
Many parents see things as they saw them in their time. They think in the past. I do not say all parents think in the past. I say many parents think in the past. This is true. It looks worse in villages.
Some parents would not even let their children leave them for a single day to go to the city, not to talk of going to another country to work or study even if the child wins a scholarship.
These days we talk of distance relationships. We have trans-continent, trans-racial marriages. The world has become a global village. If my son or daughter finds a beautiful Indian, American, German,Canadian, Nigerian to marry, should I or should I not accept? What do young people think? We have to take this into consideration. How do young people see the world? What type of world do they like to have? These are important questions.
Of course, we cannot let our kids just do what they like. We have to guide them; but anyone who continues to think in the past will get up to realize the sea is gone leaving some fish behind; and they are that fish.
We operate in a digital age; the age of communication. If you are a parent and do not know what is going on, tell me how you can see the opportunities that are available to your children this age.
You can only see the traditional opportunities that are more or less only good for the young men and women who have refused to move with their times.
I do not, for one moment, say parents should not advise their children about their careers and life in general. What I say is as a parent, listen to your children Then you can advise them; but, please, do not impose your vision on them especially if you know you are not abreast with the changes taking place in the world especially due to modern communication technology.
Let them tell you their dreams. What you should make sure should be that they have dreams. Advise them to be realistic in their dreams. Are they achievable dreams? How do they hope to realize the dreams in question? Once you see they know where they want to go, encourage them.
Above all, do not impose your vision of the past on your children. The vision of yesterday, the thinking of yesterday, the ways of yesterday will not give you what today’s world wants. Many of yesterday’s thinking and ways are old-fashioned. They will not deliver today; and we can’t turn back the clock
Amazing are the young people
Never have the young
Been so talented;
Wizards on the computer;
Swimmers on the net like sailfish;
They learn new languages
As birds learn to sing
With amazing speed;
Who says these parents of tomorrow
Are not amazing?
The world’s future leaders,
Are poised to create a new world.
Parents, give these digital natives
Leaders of today,
Let’s give them the opportunity,
To prove their worth;
To bring out the best in them,
To make their world
The excellent place.
